There is a man that lives on the top floor of a very tall building. Everyday he gets the elevator down to the ground floor to leave the building to go to work. Upon returning from work though, he can only travel half way up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way unless it's raining!

This is probably the best known and most celebrated of all lateral Thinking puzzles. It is a true classic. Although there are many possible Solutions that fit the initial conditions, only the canonical answer is truly satisfying.

He is a midget ( a very small person who could be thirty for all I know) and when it is raining he has an umbrella probrobly taller then he is. Unless it is raining, he doesn't have his umbrella to press the high number on the key pad ( his floor which has his room on it.) So thats why ,unless it is raining, He has to travel halfway in the lift and walk the rest of the way.

He was short and so couldn't reach the top floor elevator button.However he could have been an unfit man who walked to get fit or loose weight. Or have you ever thoght that maybe he WANTED to walk up the stairs and enjoyed it.
