You're walking on thin ice. Why can't you be with them? Is this person married? If they are is his/her spouse ok with you two being good friends? Would you ever stop thinking about the next step when you are with this person? If you would not then you are only torturing yourself. If you can find that you can move on with your life and find someone else while still being good friends with this other special someone - then this is probably the only way it will work out for you.

Yes. Why not? Sometimes things like always happen. Ask yourself this question. Can you act how you always do when you are around him eventhough when you know you can't be with him? If your answer is yes then definitely both of you can be good friends. However, if you know you can't act normally when you are around him after knowing the fact that your relationship won't work out, then i think it will be diificult. I didn't say you can't but it is going to be very tough. You might have to bear with all the pain alone. Think about it...It will be very akward for you when you are around him. But i hope you will succeed.

it's ok because sometimes friends fall into love. But, be careful it might not work and you might be falling for him more and it will just hurt you more and more just being good friends. Don't let the boy hold you down. Get out there and see what else there is.

Why, of course. I'm still best of friends with one of my ex even though we have new partners. It might be weird at first but you'll be fine. Honestly, sometimes it feels better to be just friends.

technically its ok, but it is torture!! the best way to get over someone is to lose all ties.
you dont want to be the third person or see that person everyday with s/o else.
but if there is ANY chance for the 2 of you, stay around. i would

Absolutely! Friends usually last longer than lovers anyway. Enjoy a great friendship.

sure. i split up with an ex b/f many years ago and though i still love him, we have managed to remain good freinds through the years..that b/f kind of love just sort of mutated into a platonic love instead.

It is ok to just be friends.......but, in the back of your mind, the yearning, wanting feeling just won't go away. It is ok to be friends......just don't let the want get so strong that you can't handle it.

personally i think it's a bad idea - but that's coz I've never actually seen it work. You could probably be friends once you've fallen out of love but it's really hard otherwise.

Of course it is ok. It's better to have a friend, than not have them at all.
