Your question implies that dessert wines are mades only from white grapes. Dessert wines can be made from any grape, red or white. The following list contains dessert wines I know that are made from red grapes:
Port
Madeira
Sherry
Marsala
Malaga
Vin Doux Naturel
Zinfandel (Late Harvest)
Pinot Noir (Late harvest)
Grenache (Banyuls is a well regarded example)
Syrah/Shiraz
Aglianico
I'm sure I'm missing others with which I am not yet familiar. As you can see, you have a lot from which to choose.

I can't think of any, although as suggested, port (which is a fortified red wine, ie it has extra alcohol added) could be an alternative.
The skin pigments which give red wine its colour also contain tannin and other chemicals which give a bitter flavour rather than sweet, so it's difficult to get the same taste as with a white dessert wine.

New York state finger lake wines are usually quite sweet. Sweedish Hills Winery (my favorite)produces some great very sweet dessert red wines such as Cynthia Marie Port and Radical Raspberry. They ship - their website is www.swedishhill.com. Another website to visit is www.newyorkwines.org. Enjoy!

Madera? Quite expensive, but sounds like you describe
Other than that, Turkish and some Romanian wines are sweet reds.
Watch out for the sore head the next day, though. Drink plenty of water!

Dessert wines are called Port. You should be able to find some very good ones at a liquor store.

Black Muscat is a great red dessert wine. It's sweet as is typical of muscats, but not fortified like port or sherry (also good) so it has a lower alcohol content.

not as sweet as a port (dessert wine), but you can get a red that isn't dry. they aren't as abundant so you'll need to check the labels or ask a clerk. i've had a lambrusco before......that's pretty sweet.

try amerone, its made from dried grapes, so its got a real nice deep flavor.
Another sweet wine, is moscato. I have it with breakfast or brunch. Its a sparling, white, very sweet wine, and only 5.5% alcohol, so you can induldge and not get drunk.
