I mean is it to much to ask to use your signal when you are going to make a turn?

They don't do it because the police are complete failures at their job and are not enforcing the law. If people actually expected to get a ticket for something that caused accidents as opposed to moneymaking offenses that allow the police to be lazy slugs (ie speeding), then people wouldn't take the chance.

I use my signal, and so do most people. It's one of those "when you do right, nobody remembers, when you do wrong, nobody forgets" things. It's the few who don't do something that catches our attention. This may sound crazy, but in a fit of boredom when we were traveling on vacation last year, I actually pulled out a piece of paper and a pen, divided the paper into two columns (yes and no), and put a mark for each person I noticed whether they used their signal or not. I did this through three cities (two small and one large) and an overwhelming majority of people used their signal. Granted, it wasn't for the reccommened-what is it?500 or 50 feet? but the signal WAS used. It IS interesting to note that most of those who didn't were from the big city.

I know, I know...yes, I AM crazy.

Thank you!! I don't understand it! Does not using your signal make you cool? How? Or are you just too lazy to extend your pinky finger to turn it on? Do you think you're being followed and you don't want to give your next move away? You'd rather live dangerously and just cut people off or try to get them to hit you? I swear that one day I'm going to drive around town and give $100 to anyone who used their signals correctly - that's to turn and to change lanes or signal an exit from the highway. What is the big freakin' deal about using them? Sorry for the rant - I was cut off 3 times today. Guess they didn't think I'd let them in if they used their signals. They're wrong - it's the ones that don't use their signals that I won't let in.

I agree-had that happen to me today. Was waiting at a stop sign to go straight across the intersection. The opposing car was also stopped. She was busy chatting on her cell phone and had her wheels slightly turned to the left, but no turn signal to turn left.Sure enough,as soon as the traffic cleared, she made a left hand turn right in front of me when I started to pull away from the stop sign.Even though I had a suspicion that is what she was going to do,a signal would have been nice.Besides,I had the right of way,not her.Luckily I don't usually step on it when I pull away from a stop sign or I could very easily have hit her.

Laziness.
It wasn't enforced when they learned to drive.
They feel "cool" when they don't use them.
"Only losers use signals."
They forget.
"Why signal? I looked and no one was there, so signaling is pointless"
"I'm in the turn lane, it's obvious that I'm going to turn."
etc.

The list can keep going. Did you know that the lack of using signals, or using them improperly actually causes more accidents than speeding? But, police do not usually pull someone over for failing to use a signal. Hell, most police don't use signals.

Right on. Why don't they. Some just so they can see a question about it on Yahoo! Answers. Others never took drivers education so they don't know that you are suppose to use their signal. Others are just idiots and should have their license revoked.

because they are inconsiderate and lazy.... however since hardly anyone uses them anymore i have been wondering if the turn signals have been changed to optional features on newer cars... LOL

They're lazy or something, I don't know. I guess it some states it's not a law to use it, so if they learned to drive elsewhere, that may be the problem. My boyfriend is that way.

I use mine all the time.

Right on Bamaboy. These crapheads have defective brains. I wonder how they know they should turn the
wheel?

Probably chewing gum, and thats all they
can do at one time.

Lack of ability to remember what the laws are or they are just inconsiderate of others around them.
