u no to start conversation or jst to get to know him better *******we just talk on the fone cuz wer long distance

Ask him to tell you about things he likes. It could be guy stuff like sports or video games or cars, or whatever. But if you want to ask him something just for the sake of getting him to talk you should be prepared to atleast fake interest in it.
