Did it help and if any what were the side effects? I have heard bad reports about them and just want to check before I have one in my shoulder.

Thanks

hi I have had many coriticosteroid injections in my shoulder for bursitis. If you have this procedure done make sure you go to an expert in this field. orthopedic specialist that I see has given me the best treatment. I was going to a pain clinic for multiple problems my shoulder was hurting the doctor gave me an injection in the shoulder. In my opinion the injection was done improperly and I experienced the worst pain of my life worse than child birth. When done right I recieved total relief after a couple of days. You may experience some sorenessfor a few days then you should start to feel relief. I would recomend this procedure once again by a specialist. I wish you luck in relief of your pain.

Actually for bursitis in majority of cases no treatment is necessary. Either the condition gradually regresses after a few years or the person less bothered with the swelling. 2. If the person bothered with the swelling conservative treatment may be tried by aspiration followed by crepe bandage. This often helps to reduce the swelling. Or sometimes hyaluronidase might be injected into the bursa. after aspiration and then the crepe bandage. 3.Operation: when the swelling is quite large or if it becomes painful, excision of the swelling becomes necessary.

Corticosteroid shots are very common for bursitis, they act as an anti inflammatory, like ibuprofen just at the source of inflammation, better not have too many of those as they also can decrease your bone density and create other problems bu for the most part they are fairly safe used judiciously

Personally I feel that there is no need to have this treatment. You risk introducing infection into what is generally a sterile area.

Depends on where the bursitis is but I would advise rest, NSAIDS if you re able to tolerte them.

Hope this helps!

Yes, I had one. It helped a lot, but the actual shot HURTS. Give it two or three days after the injection to take effect.

My mom is in the same situation as you, and has been asking people the same thing. She spoke to one woman who said it was the best thing she ever did, however she also spoke to two other people who said it actually made their shoulders feel worse than when it started. Because of such mixed reviews she has been putting it off. Best of luck with your decision.
