I have been in a fun and exciting relationship for 2.5 years. My guy friends don't understand why he won't ask to marry me. They say I'm worth it and he should make me an honest woman. Always at the end of my convo's with people on this subject they ask the very question I'm asking. Why buy the cow when you get the milk for free? Is this true? Just need some advice...I love this man but he is 10 years older been in a terrible marriage and is kind of leery about marrying again. Oh yeah and we live together and have been for almost a year. Thanks :)

If its really bothering you, maybe you should ask your guy friends why they think you and your partner should be officially married. But I think once both of you are happy with your current status of your relationship, there's nothing to worry about really. But you should know what are his long term goals and expectations for your relationship - make sure his and your goals match.

That may have been the case in the past but nowadays, it isn't the same. If someone truly loves you, they will committ. It may not be exactly what your looking for tho. He isn't ready for marriage b/c of the past. Only he can decide if he wants to do it or not. If you want marriage, you may have to decide to go find someone else in the future. Marriage isn't all that it is cracked up to be in my opinion. I hope the best for you but listen to your heart, not your friends.

Guys are afraid of commitment.

Often when a guy commits too much the girl will get comfortable and start bossing him around.

Try being more submissive and he'll probably come around.

Why not live together for a while longer? My experience is DO NOT MARRY until you've known him for at least 2 years. Good Luck!

All marriage is this day is a document anyway.... If you are both in love....who cares about the piece of paper. Marriage isn't what it use to be. I haven't been married either....so this can just be smoke coming out my butt....but. (lol) thats what I have heard.

You should talk to and ask him if he's planning on marrying you in the future. And if your feeling confident, ask HIM to marry YOU. Crazy, but probably effective.

My mom says that. I don't know though. I guess it just depends on the guy.
