I have a baby and a nearly six year old boy. It's raining and I'm tired from being up in the night with the babe. Has anyone got some ideas for fun things to do with my boys today? we're in a good mood but becoming restless........

Thank you everyone, what great ideas. We're going to bake cookies while the baby sleeps and then play hide and seek and sharks and then watch a video and then have a sleep! lol
I really appreciate the thought that went into your answers, thanks again.

hi there, as a mum of 4 boys I have plenty empathy, its a bit difficult with the ages being different, you didnt say exactly how old your baby is, I know I was doing fairy cakes with my eight yr old last week it took ten mins to mix up & we had fun decorating them, or how about a simple "I spy" (colours or words) if you are too tired to do too much. or cutting out paper shapes , educating the 6 year old too! I trust it deosnt matter what you choose to do the kids will love it anyway, the most precious thing you can give your children is your time.I hope you have a lovely day ...Izzi .scotland

When at the doc's office and bored of waiting we play I spy with me little or huge (depending on the person ) eye. We at home when bored play hide and seek. They have so much fun and so do I. We also read and tell stories. Sometimes it is just fun to bake cookies or brownies. Then also they get to eat up their work.
Your six year old will love hide and seek include the baby have him with you and try to hide from big brother or find him together.
Have a great day. Take a nap if possible this afternoon.

I have a 6 year old and a 10 week old. When we had to stay in, we would all just pile into the bed and watch movies. But first, we'd make something to eat during the movie. Popcorn, cookies, things he usually can't have. And getting to eat in the bed was a bonus, lol. It gave me time to relax, the baby was sleeping, and I could spend time with my other son. Also, it's REALLY hard to get a 5 year old to nap, and when we would do this, we would all end up napping, which is a bonus!

use your imagination
this game is brill i'm not a parent but an aunt and babysitter
i find playing games such as pirates, army , camping
something inside but making imaginary badies, goodies
what we normally do is pirates - we move the funiture and set the rules - e.g.thats that ship, thats the baddies, the sharks (carpet)
kids love it when they get to move funiture and love pretending
you can give them silly challenges like - try and get to the dry land(another couch/table) without getting eaten by the sharks
then the best - the starry night -time for a nap (after a while of playing this game it always works)
they love it
can be played inside or out
good luck xx

Sometimes when its raining, my kids really need to expend some physical energy. So you could pile pillows on the floor for a psuedo-trampoline, put on some music and dance, go to an indoor play area. For more subued activities, my kids are always game for playdough or painting. Check to see if there are activities at your local library, museum or even sometimes your local bookstore.

Horror make up...
Ingredients
Pots of mac donalds strawberry sundae sauce with the bits...
Dough with flower (not playdough) or better still gelatine ski coloured.
If you can find them in a japanese shop Freied tofo puches used to make sushi inari
A little cooked macarone
(opened out the inside looks like the underside of skin sheered off with all the fat attached (and tasts jummy and sweet)
black and red food dye or greace paint.
Use dough /gelatine to form a large swollen gash say on his maybe held with a bandage for support.
Use the inary to look like a flap of skin turned out cutting where nec
Blend it in with his skin with your make up so it looks part of him.
Colour the inside of the gash with the food dye/ edish with a little black,
Place a bit of macarone in badly cut like a cut vein/artery.
Then fill the would and outside with the macdonald strawberry sunday sauce and pour it on arm and splatter where it looks right on clothes.
For goos measure break a chopstick coliur white and have the broken bit sticking out of the would like a compond fracture...
Now see now many people he can grose out especailly when he can do things like put finger in would and lick it, or lick the wound infront of girls...
If you do it right it should look fairly realistic, bloody with the strberry sundae bits liiking like flesh
And totally disgusting
Exactly what a 6 year old will love...
Especailly if he can grose out all those orrible girls
