I got this from http://www.aspca.org

On June 29, the ASPCA received a complaint of a dead rooster near the West 213th Street residence of Humberto Rodriguez. Upon visiting the scene, our Humane Law Enforcement agents found a beheaded adult rooster on Rodriguez’s fire escape. Agents brought the rooster to the ASPCA’s Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital for examination, where veterinarians determined that the bird also suffered from two broken wings.

Following further investigation, on July 28 ASPCA Special Agent Joseph Lemos arrested Rodriguez near his residence for biting the head off of his pet rooster. The 54-year-old Manhattan man has been charged with one count of animal cruelty, which is punishable by up to one year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

Yeah people are just crewl. I think animals have the same rights to live as people do. They're animals just like we are. They have the same rights to live as we do. I bet the world would be such a better place if there was just animals. People think they're better than animals just coz they have more intelligence and the poor little animals can't defend themselves properly.

Yea, it is sick. Unfortunately, I've witnessed something like this. When I was a kid, We where at recess at school, and some of us found a baby bird that had fallen from it's nest. There was this retarded kid, (mentally challenged) who came over and picked up the chick and bit it's head off and ate it. I kid you not. It was very disturbing. I'm over 50 years old, and this happened when I was in 3rd grade...some memories haunt you forever.

The usual reason people are mean is the same reason as when animals are mean: they have been hurt a lot and are lashing out in anger.
Sick? Yes! Natural, yes. Understandable, ? yes. Acceptable, no. Any animal or person who kills must be treated and rehabilitated or put away from society as a last resort.

I don't believe all people are mean. It's just the sick individuals like this that stand out in society and are so shocking that we remember them. People who are cruel to helpless animals are mentally ill. Remember, a lot of serial murderers began their lives as animal abusers. Abusing the helpless is like baby steps to them and they grown into the Ted Bundy's of our society.

You are a vegetarian I trust?

Between 25% and 50% of chickens being slaughtered for consumption survive the stage that should kill them. They get steamed and plucked alive. Up to 10% still lives when the gutting starts.

How about that?

Yes, that is gross and sick. I'm glad he was prosecuted for it. Go animal cops!

HOW DID THE FUTHER INVESTIGATION GO BACK ONE DAY?
There is no law against killing your own chickens for food but to break his wings before killing it then not using it for food properly is abuse.

And to the idiot who claimed they had no compassion for birds well thats as abusive as the idiot who killed the chicken.

I guess, I don't really have much compassion for birds, I'd prefer them to be deep fried on my plate!
