Or, like liquids, do they have to be in our checked bags?

Things were alot different a couple months ago. My son flew last week and took his cell on board. Everything has changed since yesterday!

Didn't some of you watch the news in the last 24 hours?

And sky pilot, of you are indeed a pilot, I will take your word.

Not sure where your flying to or fro, but here in the US you can have your cell phone, laptop, ipod, etc. No liquids or gels of any sort, to include, hair spray, shaving cream, deodorant, lip gloss, perfume, toothpaste, any drinks, and lotions. All the liquid and gel items can be put in checked baggage.

As for TSA having nothing to do with what you bring on board, that's bull, the department of homeland security is who we respond to, not the airline, so if TSA says no then no, just because an airline says it's ok to bring something on doesn't mean it's ok to bring it through our checkpoint, we (TSA) have last say on what goes through!!

Don't listen to those clowns on TV, here I found this directly on the TSA website. Read it for yourself:

http://tsa-7.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/tsa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=254&p_created=1155227254&p_sid=WToZ9Pei&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPSZwX3NvcnRfYnk9JnBfZ3JpZHNvcnQ9JnBfcm93X2NudD0xNiZwX3Byb2RzPSZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1

Question
Media have also reported that laptops, cell phones and electronic items are no longer allowed. Is that true?

Answer
No. TSA continues to allow laptop computers, cell phones and other electronic items.

And this is current, just updated. Read all the questions and don't believe everything you hear on the news. Silly silly people.

And just as an FYI, TSA is a government branch. They are the security screeners.

And addressing the last answer down there, he is correct about the UK flights, I erroneously assumed this was a US domestic flight. How arrogant of me. If you are in the UK and you intend on flying to the US, I wish you the best of luck. You are not allowed to bring much on the plane at all. You even have to remove the electronic keyless entry tag from your keychain. Crazy! Here's the guidelines from Delta. This must have been what the media was talking about regarding no electronics on the planes.

I don't know about the liquids issue...but I flew a couple months ago and you can take your cell phone on the plane, it just has to be off cause it can mess with their radio or something.

On US carriers u are allowed a cell phone on the flight. If u are fly in the UK u can't take anything on board. I would still check with the carrier because the each have different restrictions. u can bring food on board. no pakets liqued food. U can bring shampoo and other things like that as long as they are in checked bages. tsa has nothing to do with what u can bring on board. check with carrier before u leave to go to the airport or when u are checking in. tsa has to listen to the dept of homeland secrity.

No, cell phones (which should be switched on while on board any way) are to be kept in the checked luggage.
