I was told why in one of my college classses.

It is because dogs and cats intestines are not very long and their body does not absorb or take out all of the nutrients out of there feces. So when dogs and cats poop there is still some nutrients in the poo. So the dogs can smell the poo and tell that ther is still something in it that can be used so they eat it. Unlike in humans our intestines are very long and our bodies absorb and take everything out of our feces, so there is nothing good in our poo.
But anyways that is why dogs eat poop.

This is normal for some dogs. Sometimes it is because of a deficiency in their diet. You can buy something at the Pet Store that you can put in their food to make them quit eating their poop. You might want to consider changing their diet though.

all dogs will do that. Female dog will do it most of the time. It has something to do with them cleaning up, like a mother dog does when she has pups. It still grosses me out. There is something that you can get from the vet to make the poop taste worse, so the dog wont eat it. how can poop taste worse than poop? i don't get it!

Dogs frequently do that - I think it's just 'cause they can..........

Most dogs are pretty smart........so I'm assuming that poop is brain food????

My dog ate "poopsicles" when he was a puppy. I think it's because it tastes like the food they ate.
