I believe many Americans believe we are fighting for the freedom of Irag. I believe we are there because the majority of our legislature and representatives and administrative cabinet that own stock in oil are getting richer and richer.
The first thing that American soldiers were ordered to protect were the oil fields. The country that controls the oil of the planet is the country that will have all the power.

No. But we shouldn't use the term "Americans" either. Because I believe most of the population is against the war, but has not spoken out about it. [But that could just be my perspective]
But America is fighting for itself. It needs oil. Iraq has oil. Notice how long America is deciding to station itself in Iraq in comparison to Afghanistan. While the U.S. may have a few troops left in Afghanistan, America is primarily interested in Iraq. Even though the terrorist cells in iraq were miniscule and almost posed no threat in comparison to the STILL at large Osama Bin Laden, which was last seen in Afghanistan.
While this was only a rough outline, you can see the 'coincidences' that occur.

I have no idea what we are fighting for anymore. I would rather see us take care of ourselves first. If you just go a few blocks in the wrong direction from the Capitol in DC, you're likely to get murdered or mugged.

No. I believe the american government is fighting, and for control, not freedom. I find this rather depressing.

Ask this: If we had no need whatsoever of their resources (oil), would we be losing lives in the thousands there? We would have no interest whatsoever in being there or who ran the place or how humane they were to their people.
