Any ideas what this could be? Any at home treatments? I don't really have the money to take him to a Vet. I took him recently because he was limping and spent $200 for x-rays and the visit only to be told he had an inflammation in his paw. Has anyone had a dog that has a soft tissue lump on his elbow ? Can you tell me what it could be? (Serious Answers Only Please!!!)

I have heard before that larger dogs can get calluses on their elbows from sitting on hard surfaces. I'm not sure what to do for it, but I don't think it's really bad...but you may want to make sure he has a soft bed to sleep in if he doesn't already.

first, I'd like to raise your paranoia level...

Last month, just prior to one of the three times my wife began labor, I discovered my dog was limping. She had a sore on her foot, so I diligently disinfected it and treated it as nothing more than a normal injury in an active dog.

Distractions ensued from the eventual delivery of my child and some subsequent complications... so I had a relative caring for my animals.

Once things normalized with the health of my wife and child, I realized that my 7 year old rottie was still limping. It turned out that she has an invasive bone cancer with a very poor prognosis.

Even though I know that the brief time I was distracted by the birth of my child was inevitable, I still beat myself up wondering if the extra time would have allowed me enough opportunity to have opted for an amputation rather than daily contemplations on when I should euthanize her. I just wanted you to be aware that for a definitive answer, you should consult a veterinarian.

It could very well be as simple as an infected follicle, hot spot, fatty tumor, boil, etc., but to be on the safe side, I hope you can find the funds to have it looked at by a professional.

Good luck

Over 5yrs or older, sometimes dogs get fatty tumors. They are not usually dangerous, but can grow to be VERY large and finally need to be removed. Then other times a lump can be cancer. I know the vet bills are outrageous, but get the lump checked if you can.
Good luck to you and your pup!

To be on the safe side, I'd see a vet. Chances are it's a fatty tumor, and not serious. But I'd find out just to be sure.
