If you have recorked it (not a twist cap) then lay it on its side. Put a small something under the bottom to angle the neck of the bottle down a little. It should stay good for a long time.
When you see the wine racks, the wine bottle is tilted to keep the liquid against the cork. This keeps the bottle sealed properly and keeps any air from getting into the bottle thru the cork. (Cork is a porous substance.)

As an ex-licensee - once wine is opened the air gets in and spoils it. That is why when you go into pubs and winebars if they use a large bottle of wine and recork the wine is terrible to drink. You do not know how long the wine has been in the fridge. You are better buying a smaller bottle so that you can drink it all in one go. I would keep it for no longer than the next day.

The moment you open a bottle of wine, it comes in contact with oxygen which starts to break down the tannins in the wine. It's always good to let your wine "breathe" (meaning to uncork it and let it sit a little bit before drinking it).
But once you open it, it's a ticking time bomb. For white wines, you have only a couple of days at the most, depending on the quality of the wine. If it's a red, it will last slightly longer.
You will know when you taste it. The alcohol taste may be stronger, or it may have a vinegar-y type taste to it. If so, then dump it down the drain. If not, go ahead and enjoy it.
But from now on, either polish off the wine in one go (or within a day) or don't open it at all. It's not worth wasting a bottle of good wine!

Once air is allowed to reach the wine, it is only good for a short time. Wine will turn to vinegar rather rapidly, but dependant upon the wine itself. I have opened wine and left it in the fridge for a couple of weeks without any change. However, leaving an open bottle on the kitchen couter after openeing could 'turn' it in a matter of hours.

Three days.
Once a bottle of wine is opened, the oxygen in the air starts a process that initially softens the flavors and opens up the aromas of the wine. As this process (oxidation) continues over many hours and days, the wine is ultimately made undrinkable. With that being said, if you open it past three days and you still find it drinkable, go for it!

Until you drink it.
whats wrong with people, you open a bottle to drink the contents, so drink them.
Saving a glass of wine is very British, here on the Continemt we just drink the stuff.
I can only manage 11/2 litres a day now I'm getting older, too much and I spend all night peeing.

If it tastes okay, it is okay. Some expire really quickly, some seem okay for weeks. Used to run a pub and restaurant, some of the white wines kept for a surprisingly long time. Enjoy, what with it being Friday.
