Not to be insulting to anyone, but if everyone is a "child" of God, why is Jesus so special? Why would a force as powerful as "God" need to get a woman pregnant to pass along his message if he created the universe? If people are/were unpure because of Eve, wouldn't it be easier to create a "son" that wasn't human at all?

And why the heck do I find the names Cain and Abel so appealing?

._.
Okay, lots of responses. Thank you, all of you.
Some people seem to think that I'm not serious- and while the Cain & Abel thing wasn't really serious, the rest is.
I grew up in a family full of very religious people, but I was never able to believe in what they believed in because everyone left my questions unanswered.
While I'm not looking for the "answers to the universe", I'm hoping that someone might be able to tell me why they believe, in some strange way. A more appropriate question to ask may have been "Why do you believe in God?", but I felt that was too blunt. Apparently I didn't do much better with this.

Good question!

Why is Jesus special?

Jews for Jesus = Vegetarians for Hamburgers

God? He or She?

Church? Christianity? Jesus? Dying?

What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?

Does Imacculate Conception = "VIRGIN BIRTH"?

Google Imacculate Conception and learn something.

What else do you falsely believe, Immaculate Deception?

Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .

If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.

Can Gods die?

If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?

Did Jesus give up Saturday for us?

No Eternal sacrifice, big deal for a day!

If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.

If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!

Life after death is like virginity after childbirth.

If the flesh of Jesus died, what was seen walking and talking on Sunday?

If you believe this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to believe it too to validate you.

Christians want everyone to convert to their non-thinking in order to be 'saved'.

Believing and not thinking is choosing a mental illness and becoming truly lost.

I'm sure God will bless you greatly for Conciously seeking TRUTH. Jesus said over and over that he was the son of man,i believe he said this from the human(carnal) aspect, later he spoke from the inner spiritual (HUEMAN) aspect and said he was the TRUTH
JESUS is Special because he was a trailblazer, his life was a living example of A spiritual pathway. There have been and are many, many men and women who have attained christhood. There are many great saints know and unknow from all religions Encluding Muslins, and Jews,of which Jesus was just one. The CHRIST is within you and at some point in time and space, one lifetime or another YOU will "die once" ( lose the sense of seperation from GOD) and experience the virgin birth of christ in YOU. IT does no good to second guess God's work, just become the detached and impersonal witness Then WITH AN OPEN MIND God will impart unto you what you need to know when you need to know it. Jesus is special because He is the Son of God. He lived in Heaven with God the Father from the beginning, but He didn't regard equality with God as something to be exploited. Instead, he came to Earth and took on the form of a human being, so He could understand the temptations all men and women face. He also freely gave his life as a sacrifice for the sins of all mankind -- something that no one else could do because a sin offering must be perfect and without blemish in the eyes of God. Jesus was the only human being to ever walk the face of the Earth who committed no sin, and as such He was found to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins. His death on the cross marks a turning point in the history of mankind. If it wasn't for the sacrifice Jesus made of His own free will (God didn't force Him to do it; He did it because He knew He was the only one who could and He wanted to do it), we would be forever separated from God. The blood of Jesus is what takes away our sins and gives us the opportunity to live with Him and God the Father in Heaven.

P.S.: No idea why you find the names Cain and Abel so appealing...

"If we are all 'God's children', created in 'His' own image, why is Jesus so special?"

Your question shows you have gleaned the basis of Jesus's message, which was: we are all a 'jesus', we are all 'God', if you follow my wisdom and become like me (e.g. 'I am the way'), you will attain perfection as I have. Reading the gospels with an open mind will reveal this message -- which makes all of Jesus's true teachings fall perfectly into place. Jesus didn't come to "save" anybody; he was a teacher who constantly encouraged others to follow him (i.e., to be like him).

The deification of Jesus above all others who ever lived and the idea of "dying for" somebody else's "sins" were added later by Paul, who never even met Jesus. Obviously no one can "die" for anyone else. And no one can take anyone's "sins" (wrongdoings) away. Doing wrong is not a thing -- it's a non-thing, it's a negative, a void, an emptiness. The only thing that stops a person from doing wrong is gaining the wisdom to know it's wrong. The only thing that stops a "sin" is enlightenment --- comprehending why it's wrong to to that particular thing. But Christianity began on the premise that people are stupid, and that 'God' isn't much brighter.

'God' is about truth and discovery, about living and learning. The rabbi Jesus tried to teach that, but Christianity made him a cover boy martyr for the mythological religion Paul created.

Why don't you find something more intelligent to worry about? If the Jesus scene gives you a problem, get more education and you will realize that "bible stories" are strictly parables that explain a situation. Nursery rhymes are a good example of teaching with a little story.....that is what the bible is all about. Obviously, you know the "nursery rhyme" story of Cain and Abel and perhaps that is why you find the names appealing.

Jesus is so special because Jesus is GOD. And to answer the rest of your questions, because it's how He wanted to do it.

Cain and Abel? Sort of rolls off the tongue.

ok well Jesus is so special because He is fully human and fully God... we are just fully human. SO Jesus came out of heaven, and walked on this earth living a PERFECT life, and He was the sacrifice for the sins of the entire world.. all we have to do is believe that is true.. and we have eternal life :)

Jesus was a messenger...that is why he is special. Everyone is the sons and daughters of God. The fact that Jesus is a "son" is not what makes him special. Cain and Abel...i dunno, maybe you just like the names for the same reason other ppl like other names. Of course unless you are implying something...I am sure you can answer your own question then.

First off you are only asking this because you have no conception of the chain of command and who Jesus really was do you really think that he was just an ordinary man,Jesus defeated Satan after fasting 40 days and nights he healed and raised the dead and fed 5000 with two loves and fish.if you study the bible all of thees things would come to light I can tell your not yet serious about your salvation, you are looking to justify your life stile of sin.sorry no tire kickers.
