I have had several sets of extensions put in which have totally ruined my own hair. The trouble is,once you have the first lot, you get used to the extra length and thickness,it's very hard to go back to your own hair again,so you have more and so on.In the end you have to have some because, your own hair is now very thin and breaking off.Don't start honestly. My hair was past my shoulders when I started, but a friend was having them, so I thought I would. I wanted my hair long and this I thought would be a good way of letting my own hair grow whilst looking as though I had long hair already.I had to stop in the end, most of my hair ended up either in the bin or in a removed extension, thus causing me to cut my hair short and layer it.It was so thin you could see my scalp through my hair.I had wasted three years growing my own hair to end up with it short again, and in bad condition.I was devastated. As they say a womans hair is her crowning glory. That glamourous feeling is short lived. They are hard to look after,it's extremely time consuming keeping them looking good. Most of them only stay in about two months if your lucky. You are always best to have a fusion gun and seals of your own, because they continually fall out and need re attatching.Worst and most expensive thing I've ever done to myself.Boy do I regret it.
I am however just about to try putting in the "real hair clip in extensions "which I have been recommended to use by people who have had the same bad experience as me . I want to use them for that long glamourous look when going out, but when I get home again, I can just unclip them. Thus putting no stress on my own hair, hopefully, this will allow it to grow once again into a healthy head of hair. DON'T DO IT is my advice. It's like when you have the false nails done, they look great, don't break and so you keep having them done.

Hi ive never had and wouldnt of minded having some but after watching celebrity love island and if you look you can tell a mile away who has hair extensions in because they look so fake. you can tell where there own hair ends and where her extensions begins and it doesnt look good. I just say try and wait for your hair to grow as it will straigten well enough and have its own body and bounce and you dont have to worry about getting snother 100 quid or more to get new ones put in when they fall out after 2 months. Also i bet the celbs pay thousands for there extensions and they still dont look good.

It really just depends on the style. There are so many extensions these days that you have soooo many choices. Some people just add a few in the back to add length to their hair and some people do a full head of extensions like micro braids for convenience............. it's just whatever you like. Some of my clients want a style that can only be achieved with extensions for that person. A lot of style books will show you a style and there are extensions pieces in the style. It just depends on what you are looking for.

They look great if they're put in properly, the main problem is people don't know how to care for their hair when they have extensions.
Washing: Keep your hair clean. Hair tangles when dirt and sweat build up, wash your hair after exercise, swimming etc. Brush your hair and remove all tangles before washing it. Wash your hair going in a downward motion. Use a good quality shampoo, your stylist can advise you what product is best for your hair. When lots of water is added at once to very dry hair, hair can swell up and tangle. Gradually wet the hair and brush gently before you completely wash it. This is more common with less expensive extension hair.
Styling: When brushing use a soft bristle brush, start at the ends of your hair and gently work your way up. Always brush in a downward motion. Do not brush harshly. Brush your hair 2 or 3 times a day. Heat is your one of your hair's biggest enemy, the more you use it, the shorter your hair extensions will last. Be careful with the use of blowdryers and curling irons. It is best to let your hair dry naturally.
Exercise: Wear a cap when swimming or keep your hair out of the water. Chlorine and salt water can cause the hair to tangle and mat up. It is recommended to wear your hair up or in a ponytail when you swim or exercise
Sleeping: Never sleep on wet hair, make sure your hair is completely dry before you go to bed. It is also recommended to wrap your hair together or gently tie it up to prevent tangling.
Hair care products: Use a good (leave-in) conditioner to keep your hair soft. Don't over do it. To much conditioner or any other hair care product can cause a build up and tangling. Avoid hair products that contain alcohol. Alcohol makes hair dry. Ask your stylist what would be the best products for your hair.
Hair treatments: Don't perm, color or any other chemical process to your own hair extensions. Let your stylist take care of that.
In general it is better not to brush synthetic hair and keep this hair away from all sources of excessive heat.
ProHair synthetic hair extensions can be brushed in exactly the same way as one would brush the natural hair but it is essential that the correct type of soft bristle brush is used and ProHair Daily Conditioning Spray.

Of course they look great if you pay the money and get good quality hair with a good hairdresser doing it. You can get disgusting cheap acrylics done, like most do, which is why they have a bad stigma attached to them.

It depends. If it's a different colour to your natural hair colour, such as purple on black (my classmate had that done), I find that unattractive. But if you want to extend on your hair, all awhile keeping the extension the same colour, this can look pretty cool.

I had them done about a year ago and they were a pain from the start unless your victoria beckham with loads of money and time on your hands to look after them i think its a waste of money, they made my hair very brittle and it was very sore at night time trying to sleep with them all sticking into my head.

Yes i think they do. If you get hair that is very close to your hair color no one notices a thing. Your hair looks longer and healthier. I saw a girl in one of my classes with hair extensions. I had no idea she even had hair extensions untill she told me herself.

Have you seen the recent photos of Victoria Beckham's hair, and the damage hair extensions have done to her real hair.
