the chemical sweetner in it can cause cancer in lab rats, so assuming it causing it in them, it could cause cancer in us. rule of thumb, don't put anything in your mouth that wasn't made by God.

I have heard diet sodas are way worse than actual sodas because of something they have too much of...but I do hope that diet coke doesnt cause cancer...i was addict to that stuff for awhile till I lost my taste for it.

Aspartame (the artificial sweetener used in Diet Coke) has been shown to cause cancer in lab rats.
But all in all, Diet Coke is pretty bad for you even if it doesn't cause cancer. I've heard it can cause or aggravate stomach ulcers, and it's really useful for eating away rust. (Then imagine what it can do to your organs!)

Just about anythingcan be shown to cause cancer or some other harmful effect. Even pure water, ingested in extreme amounts, can kill. The question is, when taken in normal amounts, what's the risk? Whether it be, saccharine, cyclamates or any other additive, at normal levels, no harmful effect has ever been found.

To the guy above me.. Everything is natural, everything on earth came from nature. If Humans changed it or not, it is a part of the earth and came from "god". But yes, artificial sweeteners have been known to cause cancer in test animals. Did you hear Teflon, (The anti-sticking black stuff in pots and pans) has been found to cause cancer also? It starts to flake off your pan after a few months of wear and tear.

Up to a few years ago, Coke was made with Cocaine.
Coke can clean toilets if they have nasty stains and there has been research and scares that Coke can contribute towards Cancer.

hell yes, ASPARTAME causes cancer.anyways sodas in general r not healthy at all but all diet stuff r carcenogenic that aspartame sweetner isn't healthy at all and causes diseases other than cancer as well.pepsi&coke can clean cars toilets and motors immagine what it can cause 2 our fragile stomech.

I remember hearing that when I was a kid.something about the sweetener, but you had to drink like 12 liters a day for 10 years.

a lot of controversial news and exposes are being published about the ill effects of diet coke and other diet products... this is because they discovered that these products contain ASPARTAME... they say its a toxic substance when it gets accumulated in the body... it can cause numerous musculoskeletal and nervous defects... i dont know if this is really true but i think its better to take precaution... just take the ordinary one and then have your diet the natural way.
