Hello everyone!
I'm planning to get my hair cut and styled.... i plan to get it cut up to my sholders, however my hair is EXTREMELY thick, frizzy and dry (i know not a good combination) but i was hoping to get it fixed to look healthier and smoother! but ive been told thats impossible by a friend..(im sure how reliable).. i was planning to get long layers but that same friend says my hair with flar out if i do so! Now im confused and i dont know what to ask the hairdresser (i thought if i got it washed and conditioned it'll look nice?!) somebody help me please!!!

Normally, the additional weight of having longer hair (when it is curly) will hold the hair down, keeping it from becoming flaired. If you get the weight taken off, and then add layers, it might want to go out rather than down.

I would let my stylist know that I would like to have shoulder length hair, and ask her for advice on styling/cut. Also, when booking your appointment, be sure to request someone who has experience with your type of hair. Some stylists work better with curly hair than others do.

Good quality products are a must for your type of hair. You should go with a super moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. There are several salon quality brands (buy from the salon - don't get Pantene or anything from the grocery or drug store. I know it is a bit more expensive, but it is SO worth it).

Toni and Guy (TIGI) has a really good line for thick, curly hair. There are products within the Bedhead line that work really well to keep the hair super soft and keep it from frizzing out. I also like Lanza products a lot. Ask your stylist what he/she would recommend.

Good luck to you!

I second, Only my opinion, the answere before me, Tigi is great, Control Freak hsampoo and conditioner, I think you would love, try and establish a good stylist, so you both can work together, dont hop around youll find that youll never establish a good situation with your hair! Hang in there!!!

Just ask you hairdressers advice on what to do with your hair. IF she is any good she will know exactly how to handle it and what kind of cut you should get. Heed her advice.
