It depens on the flow capacity that you would like to deliver. You may choose the turbine flowmeter to measure the flow.

If you are measuring the flow of diesel in the lines, you will have to measure both the pressure side and the return flow, and calculate the difference. Why don't you measure the level in the storage tank, and calculate level to gallons? Or calculate like you do for your car, start with a full tank, use for a known period of time, refill the tank and divide the amount refilled by the time the generator was run?

I would suggest that the flow meter be calibrated for Diesel in the first few hundred volume units (could be gallons, barrels, cubic meters, etc). This way, an accurate measurement of the Diesel volume can be made. Hope this helps.
