Not sure, but I can rule out a microscope and possibly a telescope, although an oscilloscope will probably prove useful.

THere is very little scope for a Quantity Surveyor as such in the electrical industry. Generally, initial electrical quantities are taken off by the person estimating the project, then when it becomes a job, the project engineer verifies the quantities before purchasing.

A surveyor checks that something is the way it should be.
A quality surveyor checks the - yes - quality and approval standards.
A quantity surveyor checks the amount of cost, either becoming necessary, or what has been spent versus budgeted cost.
