washing it with soap and water, then soak with a sterile gauze with a 50/50 salt water solution for 20 minutes, then apply aloe vera. do not bandage if the wound is mostly a surface wound, however, you might need to apply a bandage if the wound is deep for the first two days. after, repeat three steps and leave open for healing.

hmm.. non medical? well i can only think of one thing that some of my "kababayans" (fellowmen in filipino) practice... traditionally, when someone gets bitten by a dog, they would first wash the affected area with water and soap (which is medical) and then they would rub garlic on the wound... i dont know why they do that but yes it is being practiced here, although there is no medical relevance up to now...

Wash it out with sopa and water then use crushed garlic on the wound. They said it's an antiseptic against rabies.

rabies needs to be detected in 48 hours of the bite or its fatal and cannot be cured.
