the major carriers I do. A pilot friend told me that there is one part of the flight that he has no control over - takeoff. Bascially the gun it and HOPE the plane gets lift and then they can control it from there. Its called the point of no return - you either make flight or run out runway. Comforting thought.

"Basically the gun it and HOPE the plane gets lift and then they can control it from there. Its called the point of no return - you either make flight or run out runway. Comforting thought."

That's bull. As long as the takeoff speeds are calculated right, flaps set, stabilizer trim set right (they are) the wing will produce enough lift once the plane is at that air speed (the speed depends on weight). The point of no return is after V1 speed, which is the speed after which the takeoff cannot be rejected no matter what happens, as the plane is moving too fast to be able to safely stop on whats left of the runway.

By the way, yes I feel safe.

The crews are ok experienced, the airplane nicely maintained and the technologies is magnificent that is getting used to keep all and distinctive secure! So help help the economic device and aviaton fly more effective! :)

Flying is still the safest form of transportation. Given the situation that happened yesterday, flying is still safe. It is just not as convenient as it used to be. I trust being on an airplane more than I do on the highway with the way some of the people here drive.

Yes, because air travel is much safer today than it was a couple of days ago.

I've always felt safe on the airlines. You have nothing to worry about... just be patient in lines and cooperate, that's all!

I feel extremely safe on commercial airplanes. The industry is very strictly regulated for safety and security.

Start singing the Shari Lewis theme, "This is the song that never ends, it just goes on and on my friends, some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it forever just because, this is the song that never ends...."
