"Not All Things Are Bad. Then Again... Not All Things Are That Good!"

I was waiting for a family member to go through surgery, so my dad and I went to a Vietnamese - Philipino Restaurant. I always wanted to try new foods so I ordered 2 unusual things.

The first was FISH HEAD STEW / SOUP. It was okay in flavor, but the fish heads were a little unnerving and hard to work around. I didn't know if I needed to gnaw or pick at the fish head when I was done with the soup. (Yes, the eye balls were still in the heads.)

The main course I ordered was BLOOD PUDDING. I just thought that MAYBE it was just the "Name" of it because of what it resembles. It was dark and a bit pungent and earthy in taste. (That's because it WAS made with animal BLOOD) It was "palatable" and I finished most of it. (I was still hungry after the "soup"), but chances are... I will not order that again if I have other choices.

Among these two novelties, I had:
Octopus (over cooked and rubbery)
Venison (BBQued and tasty)
Buffalo Stew in San Francisco (Very Good)
Barley Tea in Studio City California area.
Green Tea Ice Cream (I recommend it)
Magnolia Ice Cream (Never could find it again)
Head Cheese Sandwich (Brains in Gelatin)
Chicken Feet (it's gelatinous when cooked)
and the list goes on...

Not everything hits a "HOME RUN" in my book, but if ever I travel and need to try something different, I wouldn't be "Finicky" BEFORE trying. (Just don't get "Temple of Doom" on me and serve me CHILLED MONKEY BRAINS)

Thanks for letting me Share... Bon Apetíte!

Balut - a filipino food. It's a duck egg with the baby duck inside. It's about 20 day old chick, i think, boiled. You open the egg, drink the water that come out of it with salt, then take out all the shells, inside, you'll see the white part of the egg and the baby duck inside. I've only gone as far as drinking the water from the egg.
It's actually featured as the number 1 weirdest food in Discovery Travel and Adventure.

Gopher, I know... what was I thinking??? It was so nasty, my boss likes to hunt and brought it in for lunch. He made me try a piece and all I could do was smile because I think I threw up in my mouth.
