the beach would be the normal option, either that or a local park, trying to kick a football around with a dog trying to steal it every 2 secs was always great fun as a nipper! Have a look on this site, you might get some ideas...

There are lots of nice parks and open spaces in the Liverpool area where the boys and the dog can run around -e.g. Thurstaston on the Wirral has lots of room for walking, playing sports, fishing in ponds; there's a visitor centre,( drinks and snacks as well as info) a beach by the river Dee estuary, gorgeous views of the Welsh mountains - a great place to visit. Have fun!

You've got this wrong. The point of having a dog is so the boys can take it and burn off energy while you get on with your life.

How about one of those fully fenced dog parks.
The dog can run around with other dogs, and the children get to see LOTS of cute puppies and dogs! and a lot of families with kids go there too! Most dogs at those parks are sociable, and good with kids, and are with their owners so it should be safe! You can also talk to other dog owners and just enjoy watching the dogs and kids at play!

I remember when young going out in the school holidays,me my dad my brother and sometimes our friends. we would go out even if it rained, we used to walk every where with my dad and have loads of fun,
We would walk down to our local farmers feild's and play hide and seek in the corn feilds, we had to find my dad or we would hide from the dog all you could see was the dog's tail (memories)
By the time we walked back we would be knackered it was tea, bath and then bed and we would be fast a sleep in seconds. it cost 's nothing and i love my dad for it now x
