Do you know any martial art call 'Silat'?

Yes I know it. I have a black belt in a modern curriculum that uses Silat. Silat is traditionally thought of as an evasion-type of martial art. However, I disagree. I have found that its sophistication lies in the foot sectoring patterns when applied to taking down an opponent. It does include some types of stick and staff fighting techniques, but its primary weapon is the knife, specifically a kris (or wave-bladed knife).

Silat uses a very simple method of teaching each aspect of the upper and lower arts. Jurus are the short hand forms, performed in a static stance. Langkhas are the foot patterns that are performed on the geometric platforms like the Tiga (triangle), Sliwa (square) or Pantjar (grid). There are longer forms in Silat as well, but these are primarily combinations of the Jurus and Langkhas together.

For the record, Silat comes from Indonesia, not the Phillipines. My particular lineage comes from Java, from the Badui tribe on the island. It does use many empty handed techniques, but again, the primary weapon is the knife, not the staff, stick or anything else.

Yes. Kali Silat is a Filipino-Indonesian form of Martial Arts. They use hard, bamboo sticks to strike and defend.

I've never seen people spar using this style. Sounds good though.
