This really has a lot to do with what you want, sound quality or more spl. A sealed box will give you the best sound quality but at a loss of spl.If you want more spl then you may want to look into a ported enclosure. If you want a sealed box then all you have to do is look at specs and sometimes it says the recomended seal encolsure size. The most common size for 12" subs is from .75-1.25cuft. The actual size for your sub would fall under one of those. If you are going to make a port enclosure that is a bit more difficult because there are many variables that have to be calculated such as the fs of a sub, port size, tuning, etc. There are actualy a few free programs online that are made for this purpose. All you do is input some specs about your sub and it will ask for what tuning you want and bam, you have your enclosure blueprint. You will also want to keep your tuning aroung 32-35 just because you will still retain sq and get loud. Also, if you do decided to go with ported you will need to set you sub sonic filter at the same frequency as the tuning of your box. If you decide to build your own its always a great feeling of accomplishment when your done. Good Luck

You need to go buy an MDF board, mdf is a compressed fiber board sold in home depot or lowes. You should buy the 3/4 inch MDF board and cut it using either a table saw or hand saw. These MDF board can be nailed or screwed.

You should cut the dimension to fit the car as well as enough space to mount the speaker. You can also buy the spray foam in home depot or lowes to fill the empty space in your box to give it better sound proof. You should also buy the car cloth and stable the cloth on to the exterior of the box to conceal it better.

This method works well as long as the MDF doesn't come in contact with water since it's not water proof.

Good luck.

they are likely speaking about porting the container. this variety of container is determined with the aid of what audio equipment you've, automobile they are going to be in, and song you hearken to. Now because you seem to have skills and/or a minimum of are functional sufficient to target, it must be smart that you'll be able to head the producer's internet website and discover that diverse form. If given, they must have each and every of the necessary archives about the counseled container. in conserving with who it is, they could actually have a diagram. Now on the different hand, in the adventure that they don't, then you actually ought to correctly be on the mercy of depending on the raw parameters that got here with them. no longer undesirable if you're able to do a touch style crunching or are waiting to apply a application (WIN ISD is a good one). in the adventure that they don't supply the specs in any respect, you may might want to hit upon a tech or installer that ought to target the woofer(s) to work out what they are. no longer at your commonplace astounding purchase, flea marketplace save, etc. paradoxically it is the great way as some manufacturers are everyday to fudge a litttle. good success.

depends on what you want it to do. If you are going for looks, go buy one. If you want one that is guaranteed to pump the notes, go buy one. If you want to compete in comps, then build your own, so you know what it is capable of. I built a box for my focus, we tuned it to 33Hz, and it looks good, since we used f/g and painted it. Its up to you.

Go to the crutchfield website, and buy one. Your not gonna save that much money, and it may sound/look like crap if you do it yourself.
