PDF means Portable Document Format,
When one format a document, one use several type of fonts and formats, which may might not be able to run or open on other systems or programs,
Like sometimes the MS Office Word doc with *.doc edited in 2000 doesn't open in Ms Office 97 or Office XP document formatted doesn't open as it is in Ms Office 97, or sometime, one has used some fonts which he want to show, but again in Ms Office, the fonts cannot be embedded, here comes the PDF format,
It only opens pdf format doesn't matter where and when you created with which version you created, it will throw up the moment you ask PDF Reader like Adobe Reader or Fox reader etc to read it.

Conversion of document to PDF format is to prevent changes (insert, delete, update). Hence, the pdf document functioned as a secured, authentic item which also protects the original document and author.
