"There is no explanation you can give that would explain away all the sufferings and evil and torture and destruction and hunger in the world! You'll never explain it. You can try gamely with your formulas, religious and otherwise, but you'll never explain it. Because life is a mystery, which means your thinking mind cannot make sense out of it. For that you've got to wake up and then you'll suddenly realize that reality is not problematic, you are the problem." http://www.demello.org/article2.html

Understanding this verse even partially has helped me to relax and just to get over the need to explain everything. It feels good to be small and accept the fact that I don't understand. It helps to open my eyes.

Yes, I do agree with that. Even when we get an understanding of some things, especially the causes of human suffering, we can't know the half of why, who did this, is there anyone to blame, who will recover, who will never survive and the like. All we can do is our best to try to comfort those around us on a regular basis, in our little worlds. If we choose to do nothing, I agree that of course we are not part of any solution, only not living up to our potential to help, encourage and educate.
Very nice avatar, by the way. Very nice.

no, there is an explanation. Suffering is a sort of "fermentation" of the human soul. Suffering exists to become free from it. The more you awaken, the more you become free. Evil, torture, war....these are creations of sleeping men.

yes.
i am the problem.
everyone else is to.
we are all the same entity.
i believe suffering is brought on by the illusion of seperateness from one another.
this weakens the one and the illusion of suffering comes.
our physical bodies are suffering in itself.
they are a bad illusion brought on to show us bitterness so we may know the sweet and appriciate it.
when humanity finally knows the sweet, it and bitterness wiill cancel each other out.
then we will be in the true reality where we are all one.
where there is nothing.
everything.
nothing.

Indeed. It's the human condition. We can't escape it. We can't overcome it. We can't dismiss it. We can't explain it.

All we can do is strive.. and in rare instances, for a brief shining moment, rise above it.
