ok it seems we may be a little biased here that most of us are americans!! yes the f-22 raptor is awesome. but lets not forget some of the russian migs that are really good planes. i was always a big fan of the f-14 and the current f-18a hornet, both are versatile fighters. unfortunately the f-14 is no-longer in service. the f-15 and f-16 are still good planes as well. the honorable mention of the A-10 warthog is a mute point since the A stands for attack not fighter. if i had my choice i would go with the F-18A anyday. it can launch off of a carrier deck anywhere in the world!! lets see one of you airforce wussies with a pretty boy F-22 do that!!!!!!!!

I believe the Sukhoi is the best dogfighter, but the F-16 still rules the multi-task universe. The F-22 Raptor is supposed to be a do-it-all for the next 30 years, but since our "enemies" these days are given to piloting Jawa motorcycles instead of jets, the emphasis has shifted away from $35 million aircraft.

Don't mean to be arrogant but pretty much anything used by the USA. Much money/resources is dumped into assuring that we're always on top of everyone else in that field. Currently FA18 is probably tops overall if you consider all its capabilities and cost.

i cant believe that the a-10 warthog wasnt even mentioned, it has the vulcan cannon whitch is a 30 mm gatlin gun it has an excellent payload and it is the MOST manuverable plane in the sky. its only down fall is that its crusing speed is slower than an f-16 slowest speed. (lol)
