This is an excellent question, and it goes right to the heart of why there are so many different denominations of Christianity. Each branch of that religion believes it is the right one, but if there is one God, and His word is law, then why was the Bible left so open to interpretation? Why can't people agree on the meaning and have one religion, based on the same text? Because PEOPLE wrote the Bible, PEOPLE interpret it differently, and different religious leaders interpret it to their advantage. You can extend this to the Jewish religion and the Muslim religion. Geez, the different Muslim sects have been killing each other for hundreds of years because of different interpretations of the same thing!!!! I think God is LHAO.

Well, ever since man was put on earth, there was a need to worship a God. Not all people knew of Christ, until Jesus came and told people about one God. Mankind has always knew that there was a supreme being, they just did not know what to call him. Different names for the same God, as I see it. You see, people like you who refer to Christians as "Bible Thumpers" would probably be in the coliseum cheering throwing the Christians to the lions. You just don't get it, and probably never will. If I were you, I would start learning more about the Bible, and the different religions before passing judgment, or you may become that one man and his dog permanently. . .

It has been written that there are 10 main religions and some 10 000 sects. The various religions all represent different ways of presenting religious truth. But a comparison of their teachings and practices with the Bible indicates, rather, that the diversity of religions is because people have become followers of men instead of listening to God.It is noteworthy that, to a large extent, teachings they hold in common, but that differ form the Bible, I dont have to give examples. If you need anymore clarification or insight on anything, sont hesistate to ask.

Revelation 12:9 ..Devil and Satan , who is MISLEADING the ENTIRE inhabited earth;...

Revelation 18:23 ..and no voice of a bride or bridegroom will ever be heard in you again, because ...by your spiritistic practices ALL the nations were misled.

Revelation 17:1-6 ...'I will show you the judgment upon the great harlot...upon her forehead was written a name, a mystery: "Babylon the Great, the mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth"...

Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice out of heaven say: "Get out of her, my people, of you so not want to share with her in her plagues"...

Revelation 17:16 And the 10 horns that you saw and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked and will completely eat up her fleshy parts and completely burn her with fire.......the words of God will have been accomplished.

Different interpretations of the same thing from people of varying experiences and with their own personal agenda like the quest for power over people, the quest to have and control followers, demagoguery, the quest to control people financially and live off of other people's blood, sweat and tears.

Let us take one religion for the sake of argument. Christianity. There are how many different aspects? Look, Christians were not called Christians until well after the death of JC, almost 200 years later. In fact, He would have been apalled and horrified at the thought of starting a new religion. He was born, raised and died a Jew. There were, by the way, differences amongst His disciples, too. Simon Peter and Paul, for example, were at odds because Simon Peter went about mysticising JC, as if He was more than a mortal... yet Paul and JCs brother James were against this... who do you think won out? There were also those that opposed the idea of women having any control or power (or even a voice) in temple matters! Imagine that...!

Imagine someone shooting an arrow into a wall. Then imagine that person's friends running to the wall and painting a bull's eye target around the arrow... get it?

Emperor Constantine wanted to unite the different religious factions, and he legitalized Chrisitianity among several religions, and in his quest to keep the bickering to a minimum around AD 320 or so, he gathered many of the "Christian" leaders and gave orders for them to come to some agreement over a Bible that all could agree on. Some of the Gospels were omitted, as were other important books. It took 20 years for the handpicked committee to come to an agreement over the first Bible, to agree upon what shold be included or excluded because each and every one had different ideas, interpretations and each had their own agenda.

Throughout the ages, newer Christian offshoot religions and sects have come about... Pentecostals, Protestants, 7th Day Adventists, Jews for Jesus, Roman Catholic Church, Greek Orthodox, Baptists, Lutherans, Church of England, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, etc. Each figure in the belief of JC but with varying details... and varying rituals and each with their own coffers to fill for their "own" purposes/agenda and each vying for the public's attention and proclaiming themselves as the one and only religion...

What the different Christian religions seem to ignore is not whether He lived or not, or whether He had supernatural powers to heal, walk over water... whether he was born of a virgen... or whether he changed dietary laws, David's convenant with God, etc., but His MESSAGE of LOVE.

All religions are good for those who believe in them... but few can live up to the expectations and few can follow the teachings in their chosen Holy Book.

Humans made the different religions. Humans are also the ones abusing the religious views and beliefs. For those that believe in ONE God... why do they listen to those demagogues that pervert and corrupt their religions and give their people a bad name? Two words: Avarice and Demagoguery, which are the main reasons why so many religions/sects have come about throughout the world and throughout history.

I am not an agnostic. Please look up the word in its orignial meaning. I am an atheist, a non-believer who reads. I would be ashamed to call myself a religious man in view of all the corruption, deception and cheating, avarice, etc., going on behind doors of each and every religion today! How's that for a bite, buster?

Because Religion are enterprises that rule the world, the more followers they have, the stronger their business. People just need to start thinking for themselves, researching & reading as much as possible to get every angle on a matter.
Whatever makes them happy will be their strongest belief, until they hit a wall and reevaluate their beliefs, and then they start again, obsessing with another form of the same crap. Until they learn to question, they will always have unnecesary answers thrown at them.

Every so often, God speaks to his people. The message is always the same. Love one another. Love your enemies. Don't persecute your neighbours. Be tolerant.

So we start a new religion, ignore the message and have crusades, jihads, murder the jews, arabs, blacks, muslims etc. He'll be speaking again soon, but we still won't listen.
