Not necessarily bad, but it can be disappointing, since the person you are corresponding with may be lying.
For teens and women, especially, this can be dangerous, as they are more vulnerable, but it can be a drag for anyone. Imagine believing you have found the compatible person of your dreams, traveling to meet them, and finding them to be a hideous troll.
Now that's a drag.
Chatting online is fine for entertainment. But without the visual/physical cues of a face-to-face (wink, nod, nudge, smile) you are only halfway communicating, and so are much MUCH more likely to become a victim.
Be careful. Have fun. Just don't believe anything. ANYTHING AT ALL.
Cheers.

It's okay to find a bf or gf on the internet, as long as they really are who they say they are.
Pros - getting to know someone on a personal level and deciding whether to take it further.
Cons - the person you're talking to could be a psycho killer.

If you do decide to meet someone from the 'net, always make sure you meet them at a public place, like a mall or a restaurant. Just use common sense.

There are many dangers. No, it isn't just bad for teenagers. There are a lot of sick people out in the world not to mention in cyber space and anything can happen. If you are honest with eachother and there is proof in the pudding as they say, then its fine to meet people and possibly date them.

Well, your taking a chance. Lots of people have done it successfully (I know some personally). It can be dangerous. Any one who prowls around on a keyboard hasn’t got much of a life in my opinion… except for me!

Can you really believe what someone says in this day and age? Just because they tell you something are you suppose to believe it? If you must get involved then get to know them really well first.
