i know your winding up Barry but right at this time is not the best time, but a lot of folk have took the bait, however speaking for someone who went through front line action starting with Monty in the desert there are not too many of us left and i will say this to anyone who took you seriously i always think WWI was a terrible massacre of young men ww2 was different but none the less horrific when you didnt know if the next 88mm or gerry bullet was yours, it rather frays your nerves and the lenght of time away from your wife and parents and uncertain when you were coming home if ever. your right however if the terrorists came out of caves and foxholes and gave our boys a fair chance in iraq and afganistan, then they could clean up and come on home and hope this bloody country keep their noses out of other peoples affairs let some other country have a go plenty sitting in the wings, let us keep our young men here and safe after we deal with the enemy within, so have a go at that if its action your after, but no more winding up not right now, theres a good lad

Trust you won't mind when they have a national compulsory call up, and you're sacrificed to be cut down by machine gun fire, in the second wave of troops ordered from the trenches, to go 'over the top' - just so you can see for yourself the carnage done to the first wave of soldiers (your comrades) before the same happens to you. Having to step over pieces of bodies, slipping on spilt guts and sliding in blood.
I wouldn't wish for a father, brother, husband or son of mine to be sent into an indefinete battle, knowing they would just be classed as an expendable statistic should they die.
I only read the other day about a mother who lost five of her eight sons in the first world war. She was commended for her ultimate sacrifice, but she told the establishment straight, it wasn't a sacrifice she made willingly. Just like all the countless others who had to let their sons, spouses, parents, siblings die.
Tackling terrorists is a different ball game to conventional battlefield war planning and strategy. They hide among us, blend into society as decent law obiding citizens - untill they are ready. Thats why they're called sleeper cells.

So you'd prefer to be lying on your back in a freezing mud soaked trench, bleeding to death, reeking of human waste and splattered with the blood, brains and guts of your recently slaughtered friends, deafened from the noise of shelling, and having rats gnaw at your gaping wounds would you?
Well that sounds like jolly good fun.
Plus everyone fit had to be conscripted then. Slaughter on an unimaginable scale. Just because the outcome was positive for the allies does not make it good.
"Good old fashioned" indeed. There is no such thing.

Now that I'm too old to be called up I think that's a great idea. Just hurry up and get it over and done with before my son gets old enough.
I bet you miss those days when soldiers would march slowly towards the other side dressed in easy to spot nice bright clothing. Nothing improves a morning stroll more than a bit of strapnal in the face.

What is the matter with you? Even if we did have a war, do you really think it will stop these people who want to blow us up? And of course i'm presuming you would be up for a good old fashioned bit of national service? Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, we did have that little war in Iraq a couple of years ago. There are still plenty of our brave soldiers in service there and in Afghanistan. If you want to shoot someone so badly, get yourself a playstation.

Technology; makes it easier to hide out in dark rooms and commit your crimes against humanity. You dont have to even leave your living room to fund a terrorist activity. Log on, transfer some funds, email a few people in code and look out there goes another building or plane up in flames. Why would they want to risk getting caught and shot immediately when they can sneak and do more damage?

Those were the days! You're right, we need the cowards to come out of the hiding places and stand up & fight like men. If they have a problem, lets take it outside and have a good old knockabout, preferably wearing different uniforms so we know who the bad guy's are

Want a good reason why not have WWI again
The 1916 Battle of the Somme was one of the largest battles of the First World War, with more than one million casualties on both sides.

The Falklands war was not a war but a Conflict as it only involved two countries, I know because I was there. The same as the Gulf War was a conflict not a war. If we had WW3 a lot of innocent people would die for what. What justifcation would we have for it? Anyway would you go to war if there was one, NO I thought not.
