If they are under 2years old no (as said by my childcare nurse). But for me personally i would say not under 10 yrs unless there is a medical reason for it. At the moment I give my kids a combination of whole and low fat milk. If you as a parent don't feel right giving your kids low fat stuff then don't because the fat is usually replaced by sugar or something equally as bad. Yes we all need less fat but do people remember about osteoporosis and other bone diseases when it comes to calcium and other important minerals a little pill can't solve everything.

Well if you have a healthy diet like 3 meals a day fruit for fillers plenty of fresh veg who needs to spend money on ´´light ´´ how about whole meal bread pasta you can make light low cal meals naturally fresh veg is all low cal I think mums need to teach children healthy tasty ways get back to preparing food not buying ready made foods. If you deliberately buy light foods it means the calories have been reduced some how & with what! My children used to munch on carrot sticks and apples quite happily & you should see them now all healthy adults but it has to be a way of life we like regular chocolate too but we love walking so it all balances out.Is it safe? I don't think it can give children the nutrition they need to grow.

It's safe depending on what product it is. Use your best judgement. Just remember that all kids should drink at least 2% milk, I give mine whole milk, because their brain is developing and needs the extra fat. and milk is one of the best places to get good fat. I also feed my son a lot of avocado. He loves it and it gives him great fats like omega-3. Like I said just use your best judgement and I'm sure the children will be a-ok!

Hello Sog,
I wouldn't give children any products containing artificial sweeteners such as aspartame.... or anything low fat. No Hydrogenated fat though. My pointers for a good diet are.
IF YOU READ THE INGREDIENTS AND ITS LIKE A SCIENCE LESSON (DON'T EAT IT) Children have a short time with us and they need good food. I thought your question was fantastic xx

Pepsi and coke are found to be harmful for even grown ups.Mamny countries have banned them and many are following.Colas are harmful to health.dont feed baby with such products. You can feed with fresh fruit juice in your own juice maker. If you have no time to make fresh fruit juice, buy fresh fruit juice avilable in tetra pack(with caption that "does not contain artificial preservatives").Always see the date of manufacture and date of expiry.Select only the latest pack available.

In moderation, but they're kids, so the normal stuff is more desirable - children shouldn't be on diets, they're still growing.

its fine, but what 'does' bug me, is people feeding their kids on skimmed milk, until they are at LEAST ten, they should have full fat milk,
they are GROWING
unless the child is overweight (parents fault)
then they shouldn't NEED light products
EDIT* curtis8472 has the knowledge, at last , someone who KNOWS this
