Say a loved one fell from grace near the end of their life and was judged "unfit". Would you know and suffer knowing they are in Hell or not?

Many answers assume that a loved one followed Jesus their whole life, but this may not be true.

Could you not love a son or daughter no matter their belief, even if they were to be separated from you for eternity?

This is a great question.

If you presume that we take our consciousnesses with us onto heaven, then either (1) the knowledge of someone you love suffering would be with you and would eat into you to the point where heaven would not be heaven at all or (2) as some people have said, you would 'forget' about that because God's love is greater than any human love.

I find answer number two much more offensive than answer number one.

Many people have wondered how those in heaven could ever be truly happy, especially with the knowledge that unsaved loved ones were in hell. We do not know the full answer, but we do know what the Bible says concerning God's people: "He [God] will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4). We can be sure that the presence of the Lord, the fellowship of believers, and the wonders of eternity will obliterate all sorrow in heaven.

We also know that God is perfectly just, and those who are in heaven will have every confidence that whatever has happened at the final judgment has been totally just and right. The terrible possibility that our loved ones might miss heaven should motivate us to earnestly pray and lovingly witness to them while there is still time in this life for them to experience salvation

OK..
Let's say this person fell from grace late in life...
They would not go to hell.. .we all fall from grace.. most of us a lot of the time... if we are truly saved we will be forgiven...

When we are given the gift of salvation, there is nothing we can do to tear that contract up no matter what..
Now.. will that person be judged for their sin... yes... but at the end of the day they will still be in Heaven.

Heaven means and eternity WITH God.
Hell means an eternity Seperated from god.

No horns, halos, wings etc..

So to answer your question, no I wouldn't be sad because that person would be in Heaven with me!

Well lets hope that near the end of your life after serving Jesus Christ all these years that you wouldnt turn around and say I must do works to get me into heaven ,

Fallen from grace is not starting a life of sin ,we all sin ,falling from grace is knowing that Jesus paid the full price for sin but we decide it wasnt enough and start using works to get us into heaven

What our loves ones due is up to them. If a loved one fell out of grace toward the end of life wahtever happened to them would happen and there would be nothing you could do about it. But heaven would still be heaven and unfotunately there is no sadness or pain in heaven so you would not feel that. I say unfotunately only because it seems alittle cold that you couldn't feel for that loved one.

If I'm still alive, I of course wouldn't know. If I'm in heaven, I would surely know. And my first reaction to this question is: Yes, I would suffer tremendously. But then again, no one suffers in heaven! Now think about it: Heaven is a place where "God wipes off your tears", where there is no suffering and abundant joy. I think, somehow, He will help you to overcome that and make peace with that. But this is still somehow inconceivable - we can only wait and see, and hopefully we won't have to go through something like that.

i'm revising my answer because I merely found a passage contained in the Bible that addresses this in a outstanding way. because of this new discovery i'm putting all this new information on the properly of my answer and then drawing a line to split it from the unique answer. in accordance to the scripture those souls in Heaven **do** keep in recommendations their loved ones and are so moved by way of their torment that God had to create an impediment to stay away from them from attempting to assist the damned... The scripture i'm refering to is Luke 16:26 that is element of a passage that talks about a lifeless guy in Hades soliciting for help from Abraham who he can see status in Heaven. Abraham tells the lifeless guy that (a) he's not entitled to assist because he replaced into so wicked in existence, and (b) no matter if Abraham needed to assist it replaced into no longer a probability because: "26 And beside all this, between us and also you there's a good gulf fixed: so as that they which may bypass from subsequently to you could't; neither can they bypass to us, that could come from thence. " What that's saying is that reliable souls who could prepared enter into Hades to assist loved ones are deliberately prevented from doing so with the help of the layout of God! =====----- previous answer decrease than this line -----===== As Dustin stated already, wonderful what number all and distinctive seems inventing stuff that merely would not exist contained in the Bible in an attempt to discover an answer to this very worrying question. style of like the Catholic theory of Purgatory (no longer contained in the Bible) which delivers a 2d danger for redemption after lack of existence. i could be extremely in touch contained in the Mormon/LDS answer to this question because their total faith is locked into the conception of a heaven that is an section for eternal kinfolk reunions?

It is interesting to note how few Christians know anyone they love who is not a Christian, whose presence they'd miss if fated for Hell.

According to Revelations, unbelievers go to Hell (Rev. 21:8). That would include my father, a loving and caring man. So no, heaven would not be "heaven" for me. I just can't see myself adoring the god who cast my father into Hell.

But to read the answers here, I am in the minority. Apparently most Christians will worship god even if god casts their whole family into Hell.

When your in heaven there will be no recognition of love ones, Love ones in heaven are your brothers and sisters, or so my pastor tells me anyway....I agree it would be tough to leave a loved one behind but if they dont know Christ they wont be with you in heaven...get on your knees and prey for their salvation that's all i can suggest

Sadly, you would be happy in Heaven despite a loved one being in Hell. Because God's love is eternal and unmeasurable. You would be with God.
