Sister, I feel your pain. I work in an office with one person who eats at his desk all the time and makes these disgusting sucking sounds. I guess food gets stuck in his teeth, I don't know.
I moved to a different cubicle and now I sit behind a person who munches, crunches and smacks ice cubes all day.
The noise is horrendous and after a while you really do feel like hitting them for it. In spite of how you feel you cannot throw a stapler at him or harm him in any way.

Obviously he's not eating now,( I'm answering 2 days later), but next time he is eating his lunch. Before he starts driving you crazy. Why don't you show him this ( Yahoo Q & A ) Show him your Q and all of our A's and then see if he shuts his mouth then. It's a gamble. Could give him a hint, make the situation amusing, or he may throw the stapler at you?

If it's a small stapler, yes. Otherwise I'd go with a roll of Scotch tape. No need to break a nose.

No but try to throw an M&M into his mouth while he is eating. Just say you thought you could brush up your basketball skills as his open mouth reminds you of the basket.

No !! Definitely not.
Violence will never solve this problem.
You will make Him angry, and he will probably do it more.
Try to avoid being around Him when you eat.
I know it is a terrible thing to watch, and to hear, I have a close relative who does this. She was never taught to eat properly as a child, and now, She is 83 yrs. old, and has no teeth, so the dentures click-clack, at the same time.
Trust Me!! Just try to avoid the situation, that has you eating at the same time/place as this guy./ Gal.
