I had an Arthroscopy done on my right knee for multiple injuries being medial meniscus tear, bucket handle going into LC norch.. ,complete acl tear through substance, patella grade 2 changes, nochlea grade 2 degenerative changes...MFC grade 2 wear ..the acl was left torn & peices of MM were removed edges were smoothened & balancing was done.. i was told i need to build on the hamstrings & quadriceps. I have been given a brace & advise for physio which has been ongoing but the knee still gives way when i try to cut through or while climbing up/down stairs. the ACL ws not touched it ws left torn

I really needto understand how bad a situation am i in? i have understood the basic like what an ACL tear is ..Do i have to undergo an ACL re construction?

? The surgery part is a question for you and your md. I feel your pain though you and I have many of the same problems. I blew my knee playing bball, destroyed my acl, tore my mcl and pcl, fractured the tibial plateau, and ripped up the meniscus. was off the knee for a year. first with cast for 4 months the a brace and physio for 8. We will probable have to have surg. someday, I am waiting, I always prefer a noninvasive solution to a medical problem if possible.

Yes. If you are young which I am assuming you are this needs to be taken care of ASAP. If not it will not heal and you will live a pain for the rest of your life. You activity level will also be decreased to take lack of mobility of a joint. Good luck with the surgery and make sure you follow doctors orders and attend PT/OT.

It's good what they can do today, isn't it?
I think that you seem to know all about your knee & probably know
best what you need, but,I personally , think that you may be having surgery pretty soon. I do not have any medical authority, what I say is only My opinion.
Good Luck!
