If this is the rule no need for judgement, right?
God and Jesus should judge by life and behavior not have an ultimatum!
If a great person goes to hell because he doesn't believe in Jesus Christians I want no part of you!

I asked this question in church once and this is what I got:

No matter who you are, you'll be given a chance to believe in God and to replent for your sins. The choices would be pretty obvious: during the time of Jesus Christ, a good person will never choose to crucify him. A good person would see the good that Jesus did and believed in him.

Great sinners are allowed salvation if they do replent. But what exactly is replenting? It does not simply mean going to church or confessing your sins! It means taking responsbility for them. A rapist/murderer will in fact ASKED to be place in hell if he is truly sorry for his crimes.

What happens after the rapist/murderer becomes truly sorry for his crime is not known to me. Perhaps he will suffer punishment and then be set free or perhaps he will not suffer punishment, only God knows.

Amen brother. :)

Typically, if someone is a rapist or a murderer, they are not Christian, and statistics show that adults are less likely to change and accept Jesus as thier Lord and Savior. But, yes, the only way for soemone to enter Heaven and live forever is to repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, a murderer could be forgiven, and someone who has not done anything note worthy could go to hell. That is because sin is anything that is done, no matter how small or unnoteworthy it may seem, that you know is wrong and against the word of God. We were born into sin. Children are the acception until a certain age (the age of accountability, most say 13). Unless we accept that Christ died on the cross for our sin, we will not see Heaven. I pray that you will have an open heart and think about it and find a Pastor who can help you understand.

OK back up...

The "great person" has sinned too... we all have.. there has never been someone that hasn't...

So let's rephrase the point your trying to get at...

2 Men, die, go to judgement. Both have sinned in the eyes of the lord... one, in the natural human mind has committed an ultimate sin, rape and murder.. The other... to the natural mind, just petty little stuff.

BUT, in the mind of God (Jesus) Sin is Sin is Sin.. there is no levels of sin.. Minor, major etc. No matter what their sin, they have saddened God and seperated themselves from God by sinning.

To sin means to come up short in the presence of the lord.

Ok.. so to our Human mind, the rapist murderer should fry.. should be thrown away and not given a second thought..

BUT...

let's say that Rapist/Murderer....chooses to follow Jesus and accepts him as his personal lord and savior... then he will be saved... he will not go to hell.

Now the "good guy" sinner, he lives his life on his own terms, being pretty decent and only telling an occasional lie.. He never thinks about God and never comes to know Him. He will not be saved..

Salvation is a gift of Choice... We choose to accept Jesus.. and that choice will be eternal salvation..

By the way...
Heaven means nothing more or less then an eternity spent WITH god..
Hell is an eternity seperated from God.

No wings, halos, horns etc....

You have to stop looking at it from a literal flesh centered mind..you must look at it from a spiritual centered thought..

We aren't going to be standing there as flesh and blood as we are at this computer... It will be our spiritual/soul self that will be before god..

Also, Judgement.. No one knows what "jusdgement" means in the eyes of the lord.. but we do know that god is Just and fair and so even if you are saved and you sin, you can and will still be judged for your wrongdoings.. it's just in the end.. you will spend eternity WITH god.

Hope that makes a little more sense.

Johnny wait. A rapist or murderer that repented their sins will be saved because they believed in Jesus. According to John 3:16 everyone who believe, so don't be selfish with God's gift for all people, be happy for them because Jesus is when you did it. And in regards with the good people but didn't accepted Christ, yes they are going to hell. As Jesus said He is the way to the father but only to those who believed and received Him. And also He said you can't be saved by your own work or deeds. Because if you can we don't need a savior in the first place, right? Read your bible and pray. Hope I helped you and God bless.

The ant-Christ took over the church after the apostles died, and changed the religion for their control and power...,

Jesus true ministry 2,000 yrs. ago was: put into your religion,
or no religion and no one had to join a particular religion..also it did not matter of your sexual orientation
it was and is all about you spiritual orientation

If you do good towards others and things

Stand against spiritual evil in self, others, society

practice and say truth for good

be righteous in your dealings with others

all the above is Christ in you..

and all the above are the law and the prophets

Apparently if you truly repent ALL your sins are forgiven.......... Almost gives you a free pass to do anything. My son went through a phase of thinking everything would be fine, if he had done something wrong, if he just said the word "sorry". I pointed out that he had to mean it and it wasn't just a word. But I also taught him that saying sorry (and being sorry) didn't excuse his behaviour or make everything automatically OK. I haven't got a God complex (at all!) but I think my "teachings" regarding my son are sound. But what if he had the capacity to quote the bible back to me? Where would I have stood then? Surely everyday actions should speak louder than a last minute dash to say sorry?

I agree with every word you've said.

Catholics seem to have it at least a step more logical in saying that both beliefs and good works are necessary.

In either case, however, as I just finished saying in a question I just chose best answer for, a god who is vain enough to consider belief as the only important criterion isn't someone I'll be upset to spend eternity distant from.

The rapist/murderer would need to do more than believe - even the devil believes in God. Its about living with Christ and being sorry for your sins

Yes, it's stupid, but you have to reflect on the reasons that the religion is constructed in this way - It doesn't make sense if you assume that it's trying to be an accurate reflection of reality, but it *does* make sense when you realise that the mythology and dogma is carefully crafted to try to coerce people into following the religion and thus keeping its leaders in the power, prestige and wealth that they want to hang on to. Of *course* they're going to say that you'll be consigned to everlasting torture for not following their religion - It's a good way to frighten people into following their religion!

It's all about politics and manipulating people for the personal gain of religious leaders.
