I am travelling on Sunday night and it would be quite nice to take some magazines and a music player for the eight and a half hour flight.

No, sorry. The ban will not be lifted by then. Hopefully there will be some sort of inflight entertainment for you. Have fun!

I just came from the FAA website and it seems they've sent out updated warnings due to the foiled plane thing yesterday. Their advise for travelers is to call the airline you're using to find out which items can be hand carried or not. The latest is bottled gel i think. You can also visit www.faa.com

On BBC this morning they were considering weeks, 2 at least but ring the airport and ask them.
