I work out at a local park where our team runs many laps, and sometimes I take the bus home. The other day I was horribly fatigued, and I could barely move. All of the seats on the bus were taken, and it was all older folks. I really felt like I couldn't stand, so I kindly asked an old woman, must have been about 80, for her seat. I was very nice and polite, and she gave it to me. I felt a little bad because she couldn't hold on to her walker and the pole at the same time very well, and she kept jerking violently every time the bus came to a stop. She fell and got a bruise at one stop, so I feel very guilty. I've asked people for their seats a few times- it's a route that older people usually ride. Is that mean? I am very polite when asking, so I don't think I'm rude, but I feel a little guilty...

if you're fit enough to work out at the park, then you're fit enough to stand on the bus and let older people have their seats. the woman had a frame and sustatained bruising. you should be ashamed of yourself. i hope your mother raised you with better manners than that and i hope she gives you an earful if she finds out. what would you have done if that was your mum or granny? disgusting.

And you should feel guilty, how dare you? You're young, you can take the fatique. And you actually just kept sitting there after the lady fell and got a bruise, shame on you! If you were so tired, then you should had caught a cab. It doesn't matter how polite you were being, the meaning was very tasteless and showed poor quality and low caliber on your part. So when you make it to old age and you have someone ask you for your seat, are you going to give up YOUR seat?

Why don't you just sit on the stairs - it's not like you are going to get (more) dirty than you already are...

How would you feel if one of those old people got really hurt? I mean you must be a lot younger and a lot less fragile than most of them! If you fall you probably wouldn't break anything but if one of them fall they could break something like a hip and then they would have to go to hospital and we all know how expensive that could be (and remember that they are probably on pension so they don't have the money for hospital bills and stuff like that)

Try and be more considerate and a little less selfish next time!

NO OFFENSE but it is just respectfull and all that!

How rude!!! Maybe you were tired but if you are an athlete, you should be ready to get strength from deep inside for that "last lap". I feel sorry for the old lady:(

Looks like you got a bad habit of being disrespectful to your elders. Continue to be inconsiderate and it will all catch up with you. Next time sit on the freeking deck.

It's all right of you to feel so. But yes, the situation is pretty grim .. It's as if you both had the need for sitting down. It's all right. Nothing to worry about.
Good luck.

You don't ask an old lady to give up her seat. Don't say anything at all...just sit on her lap..they like that sh*t.

No it wasnt...the old folk still want to feel like they can still go by their daily activities....brain moves a little faster than the body but they still want to feel normal.......she might have even felt appreciated and recogonised and that is why her motherly instincts kicked in and she gave up her seat for a 'child'....way to go Zing...u made her feel special by recogonizing her.....
