try looking if it is a +dvd r or a -dvd r some dvd players will only play + dvd's others will only play -

Jenny darling I dont know how you are burning your stuff? Nero is best and so is Roxio. When you use Roxio click on Make DVD Video or something like that. What you must do is your DVD file must be in MPEG2 OR ABOVE format. If your DVD is not in that format then it will bring error you have mention.

Make sure the DVD works. Try with another one. Once i had a similar problem and it was solved this way. But this is not very possible and I don't know anything else to help you, sorry. I use Nero Burning ROM.

I had nightmares burning my first DVD, so you are not alone! With PC's it is extremely important to defragment before attempting ot burn a DVD. There is plenty more advice on line at various help sites. You'll get it eventually - just keep at it.

Try burn a DVD+R or DVD-R disk, not a REWRITABLE ONE.
Oh, and check if your external DVD Player supports DVD-RW and if it can read DivX, XdiV and other type of movies...

Hmm... no longer confident how a lot i am going to assist because i exploit Nero... have you ever tried double clicking on the iso record truly than taking off the burning software? many times the iso has all the right settings kept in it, and also you're able to not want to (and actual shouldn't) substitute them.
