I recently bought an elliptical trainer (Orbitrac/Stayfit) for Rs.11,000 which has a monitor to indicate speed, time, calories etc. No matter what level the tension is adjusted, the calorie value does not change. Does it indicate the actual calories burnt? For eg, if i work out for 30 min in max tension, it shows only 40 calories are burnt. But the amount of work does not coincide with the calorie indicated. Any calculations?

Moreover, my weight is about 100 kg, and am committed to lose weight as soon as possible. My age is 21, height is 172 cm. Any suggestions are heartly welcome.

I don't have any alternate calculations to offer you, but I know that those measures are never exactly dead-on. It should be a fairly close idea, though, if you are using it properly, and inputting everything as you are supposed to.
