If she is a good friend, I would recommend you give her cash - and no less then $125. It's rude to go "cheap" for someone's wedding. If it was yours, you would expect everyone to go all out. Do the same for your friend - BE A FRIEND.

Either buy something from her registry and have it sent to her address ahead of time or bring money in a card to the wedding. Obviously, don't spend or give more than you can afford, but try not to be too cheap. It's suggested to give a gift that covers the cost of your meal at the reception.

Many of my friends got married the last year of college. They still call and tell me that the best gift they got was their "Wedding Day Survival Kit." I made it. It was small bag, purchased at the dollar store and I put in a tiny sewing kit for emergency repairs, which included safety pins, headache medicine, a granola bar/pack of crackers, pack of pocket tissue and note about how I hope they didnt need the kit but just I wanted it them to have it just in case, so that their day would still be perfect, even with "tiny disasters."

the BEST thing to do, is to find something that she wants off her registry that is in your price range.

if she doesn't have a registry, and you're looking for a unique budget gift, try these:

make her a scrap book.
frame her invitation and give it back to her as a keepsake
give her a giftcard
make her something
give them something to use on their honeymoon
put together a gift basket

The best thing would be a gift certificate. That way she can get whatever she needs.
