I have for some time been interested in learning to speak Korean. I wish to learn how to speak it fluently. There is an all Korean channel where I like (Chicago) but watching it is not enough I know. I want to meet people who can teach me how to read it, write it, and speak it. I don't want to go to school to learn it because it is costly.

i can speak korean fluently. at first it will be hard because you don't speak it at home or to any friends. if you watch some korean shows on youtube.com...some have english subtitles on there. you should start out with a book. learn the basics and then try to get a tutor. i'm going to recommend these korean shows you can watch with subtitles on youtube.com Xman & happy sunday heroine 6.

Sorry, I'm not fluent but it is a hard language to learn!! My wife is Korean and I have been trying to learn on my own for 3 years (not intensely) and still can't form a sentence on my own. Learning to read the characters is not hard (I had it down solid in 1 week, but to understand the language is a whole other ballgame), it's not like Chinese,,,but Korean writing uses an alphabet. Try an online site to learn how to read the characters, and on youtube.com, look for 'Let's Speak Korean' lessons for some basics. This will give a start.

Its not an easy task. I have been good friends w/ a Korean for 2 years. I'm his English tutor and I'm pretty much exposed to their culture and all. They use their own characters in writing. I suggest exposure and extensive studying will do you best.
