According to a rule, bigger breeds have longer intervals than smaller ones. Two recognized exceptions are those of the dachshund, from 7 to 8 months,

and German shepherd from 4 to 5 months. The german shephards heat cycle will last up to 21 days.

Note: this marks the heat period so keep her clear of males to advoid an accedental breeding (and puppies). While the bleeding is usually heavest before the dog is fertile it may not entirely end during the fertile time, you are not "safe" untill the swelling of her, ahem, rear end is entirely gone. The time can vary between dogs so while it can be 2 weeks it often goes to 3 or even 4.

Two weeks,as miami87 said,but be careful,it's not a menstruation like a human one! Your dog reached the sexual maturity and comes in heat.If the "menstruation" has gone, the dog will accept the intercourse with a male dog!!
