There must be more than one root cause. We've heard about the indoctrination and training in radical madrasses. Also, if someone is thinking about killing themselves for a personal reason in these societies, they don't have to look hard for assistance and they can wind up a hero. They think they can make their despair, the wreck of their life count for something. What could some of the causes of depression be-- living in a war zone, losing loved ones to violence, lack of opportunity to start a life, to support one's family...

In some of these areas, such as the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon, there is no real army for guys to join, they hate Jews and they want to do their part, to avenge past killings and violence, defend what their homeland. They conclude that the most they can do for their people or religion is to take out as many Jews or Muslims of differents sects as possible, and bombing is the most effective way. There may be depression underlying this as where the economy is bad, the men can't get jobs, move out of their parent's house, get married. What else is there to do but focus on hatred of groups or individuals they think are the cause of their troubles? At the same time they have evil preachers saying suicide bombing is a path to heaven, and the local culture, messed up by war and oppression, glorifies them as heros and martyrs.

Wouldn't you do the same if your family and land was taken away from you like what is happening in the West Bank as we speak, when "Israel" (since I don't consider it a real country) is building this so called "Wall of Protection" were as to really this wall when it is being built is taking more land from the Palestinians. When this wall is completed it will turn the west bank into a 3 part prison first the Ramallah District then the Nablus District then the Jenin District. These people are already living in a prison. How would the Mexicans feel if America occupies Mexico they would fight back that is the same thing they Palestinian's are doing but how are we supposed to we have no tanks or airplanes only small weapons and when the Israeli's are shooting at your house from a tank how is your AK-47 going to do anything to that tank that is why they blow them selves up. But I'm against what happened on 9/11 those men call that jihad why? Jihad is were you would die to protect your family and land. The U.S. was not occupying and of Arab territory only the Israeli's do the men that did the 9/11 attacks are not heroes to the Muslim world they are murders just like the Israeli's. I just came back from the West Bank and Gaza it was my first time going, the West Bank is just a prison, checkpoints everywere I have family in the West Bank thank god they are fine, but Gaza is just a totally diffirent world there are Isreali air strikes every night you can't sleep at night because you think it could be your last. If I had to live there I would surely go crazy imagine if i lost my family in an airstrike, then i think I would blow my self up. The only reason why the palestinian's haven't all given up on there existance is because of two things religion and tradition. Now I'm an American Citizen I'm 16 years old I speak and read arabic. I live in California but both my parents are from palistine. I'm muslim and I'm very proud of my culture and were my homeland is even though I was born in America, I know I will always have a home in Birziet were both my grandfathers went through the intifades and the occupation and they grew a family there and moved here with my parents and they didn't do that for them my grandparents don't really like living in California they would rather be back home were there brothers and sisters and freinds live but they won't move back because they want to stay with kids and grandchildren. They didn't come here for freedom they came so there kids and grandkids wouldn't be the ones that would be on CNN news because they blew themselves up because they couldn't handle livng under an occupation. Hopefully i will build a house on the land that my grandfather left me and my brother with. So i could raise my kids back home so they can find out were there grandparents and great grandparents played and lived when they were kids. That is how our people will continue to live on through tradition and education.

It must start with the cultural / political / religious heritage of the individual, at least for it to happen on the scale that it does, in some regions.
Some cultures are violent by nature, and view all life as being much cheaper than it is taken in the West. This if fertile ground for the recruitment and indoctrination of people for that task.
On some level, the Western motivations are more respectful of individual life. But it can run astray as well. Many people who appear to have "Western Values" really only respect their OWN lives, or hanging on to it, above all else. They do not understand what makes an indoctrinated fanatic "tick", as they have no perspective when it comes to standing for anything larger than themselves and their own comfort and ease.

surely, that isn't the basis clarification for the suicide bombers. people who did 9/11 have been specially properly knowledgeable and not undesirable. people who did London have been center class and knowledgeable. those in Iraq are loose, and characteristic no longer had their families or residences destroyed or their freedoms taken. it extremely is fullyyt a team of fictional hogwash. First, in case you're speaking approximately Iraq, then your strawman argument is carefully fictional. It has greater often than not been Sunni insurgents scuffling with against the democratic consultant government their fellow Iraqis created and voted on, no longer against the U. S.. the objective for the bombs are markets and mosques. they have killed over 30,000 of their fellow Iraqis interior the previous 3 years. they have not had their freedoms, their residences or their families taken. and how then do you clarify the terrorist bombers from Syria, Iran, etc? No, your assumptions are incorrect, and so is your end.

I was once told that many Palestinians want to fight the Israeli's who took their land but they have no weapons to fight with. So they justify blowning themselves up saying that this is the only weapon they possess.

They also say they do it because it is a sacrifice against a military target because everyone in Israel is conscripted at the age of 18 and then becomes a reservist after they are finished with their service, so in other words they say they are not attacking civilians.

I still do not understand it and I know for a fact that suicide is forbidden in Islam.

A quick observation to point out is that they are doing rocket attacks now that they have them and cutting back on the whole nut-job suicide s h i t.

A feeling that they cannot obtain their ends by conventional means - they cannot simply launch a rebellion to expel Israel from the occupied territories as they are militarily inferior, so they have to use these tactics. Second, a lack of hope for better lives for themselves. No one who was optimistic about the world and their lives would choose to kill themselves. They are desperate. Finally, a fanatical belief that somehow killing civilians and themselves is justified and will earn them a reward in heaven. The situation these people are in may deserve our sympathy, but these are not at all rational people.

As a side-note, you should watch the movie Paradise Now about two childhood friends that are recruited for suicide attacks in Tel Aviv. I think it won an Oscar (along with some expected controversy).

You could find the answer in the Coran and in its contents. It's a culture issue. They can reach the heaven by sacrifying their body. If I am not wrong, otherwise my apologies to the Arabic community.
