i really want to dye my hair within the next few weeks, but about 60% of it is pretty much dead, from over dying it and such...it's been about a month and a half since i last dyed it...and i want to know if there was anything i could do to make it able to be dyed again...it's about every shade of brown imaginegble, and the end are like, dead blackish brown...and what i want to do is have it be all black with super blonde-white chunky highlights...can you do it with dead hair!?!?

thanks...XoxoX

well, first of all, hair is not alive, it's dead. or else it would hurt every time we cut it, but i know what you mean. i think you should cut all the bad stuff off and dye it the same color as your natural hair, that way, you can give it a chance to grow out and not have those ugly roots show. and try to take bettter care of your hair because you can't fix "dead" hair. use therapy conditioners.

Well, technically, all hair is dead protein. But. It is possible to restore it, but it only happens over time, much longer than a month and a half. There are products on the market that help to restore hair, but they still take time. I'm sure you can still dye it the way you'd like, because black covers everything, but I don't think there's anything to be done so soon about the over-treated hair, because the best treatment is time.

Your hair is over processed, I would suggest you stop coloring it for awhile, and get a good trim. Also, use a deep conditioner on it. If your hair is 60% dead, you might want to cut off the dead stuff. Then you can have healthy hair when it grows back. Good luck!

IT is a medical and scientific Fact that hair is dead once it leaves/breaches the surface of the skin, no matter where is it on your body. I have see over dyed & treated hair on one of my friends, and I trimmed to down to a brush cut (1/2 inch all over), now SHE, yes that's right, I said SHE thanked me, now her hair is fuller and has alot better body and volume. you can also try to rinse your hair two or three times With WHITE WINE VINEGAR, Rinse it with water, then use a residue removal shampoo like Herbal Essence, and then a conditioner.

no, there is NO way to repair "dead" hair. Any damage you've done or will do it PERMANENT. Products may smooth it out, make it look better but it can not repair damage. No hair color makes your hair improved (yes it may look better) it's damaging, just as perms or straighters.

You can do anything with "dead hair" it's not coming back to life.

The only way to get rid of damage is to cut the damaged parts off.

Believe me I've done it all, I go the worst splits, I still find hairs that have 7 - 10 splits on the same end! And it does seems true left alone it does split all the way up! If you do super white hair you will have really dried out damaged hairs.

stop dying the hair. Cut the hair off and be on minerals/vitamins diet , regularly exercise and have enough rest..
Give it a couple of weeks and watch the roots grow and you will have healthy hairs back.

I honestly think you should not dye it for a while. Go to a salon and get reconstructor treatments and get your hair cut as short as to can deal with. Seriously, you need to get your hair healthy again. Shorter healthy hair is prettier then long damaged hair. Good luck

If your hair is dead you've probably been putting too many products and chemicals on it...try letting it go natural for a while...you might end up liking it!
