um, when I think of Asians, I think of smart kids in school and horrible drivers on the road.

The Philippines is a very nice country with generally good people just like everywhere else. I have been to several asian countries and have found the Philippines to be the most enjoyable as the people readily understand English. Although there is some precautions one has to take in the southern Philippines due to some Muslim extremists, on the whole you will generally have a good time there as long as you don't act or look overtly rich.
I am not asian, I'm caucasian myself, but feel that all too often asians are stereotyped and face discrimination in the U.S. and elsewhere. This is especially true for Filipinos since most of the nation lives at a poverty level and it is thought by some that they are uneducated. In fact, many Filipinos excel at school in order to eventually qualify for jobs overseas as they pay triple or more what they could get paid in the Philippines.
In my travels, I have learned that sometimes those of us with less are actually more satisfied with life than those of us with more. It doesn't seem like it should be that way but I see Filipino families that are poor in terms of wealth but rich in terms of togetherness and helping each other. In contrast, in America, they are many families where there is little, if any, togetherness and helping one another except when it benefits them to do so.

Asians are smart.
Long time ago I arrived in the Philippines within 24 hours after the assasination of Sen. Aquino and the atmosphere there was so creepy.
I live in Thailand.

I went to the Philippines in 1992 to visit family for the first time. Everyone was friendly and very nice. I had a ball while I was there! I can't wait to go again!

Well Philippines is a beautiful country but you will feel dull if you are staying there for a long time, if you have time and money to spend you can travel to the neighbouring Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore

I haven't been to Phillipines, but my family has travelled to Asia alot, and I have travelled to Malaysia myself.
They mostly keep to themselves, they don't have supermarkets at all (the closest thing to a supermarket is 7eleven), seeing a bench or rubbish bin is rare. Weird huh?
Some of their countries smell because of open sewers (like Malaysia). Shopping is great though! Especially in places like Malaysia and Phillipines.
