i did some reserch back when i was 15 on hindu mythology. find it very strange how u remember that many gods and godesses too.?

but peace be to all and respect. v all have to learn something from someone. and as far as cow worshipping is considered well i think u consider it sacred if im not wrong. find it strange though so as to y do u have to worship a cow. but no offence

and u have 3 main dieties, brahma-creator, vishnu-sustainer and shiva- destroyer.

one more thing i'd like to add is that, the many people from north india have little or no faith in gods from south india and vice versa.

now when u say hinduism, u should have one common diety whom all worship and who has many avatars, right. but i really dont undesrtand y some people disapprove some hindu dieties while others worship them.

and yet another fact that south indians say is that: ram and krishna from ramayana and mahabharata, were just epics written by tulsidas and valmiki. is it true. if it is then how did people start worshipping them?

i'd be very glad if u could enlighten me on that last two parts. thank ya

What about Hindus?

In general, could it be that you have begun to believe what other people and religions have to say about you than what you believe about yourself.

Hindus are wonderful children of God. I know no random people. I do, of course, know many people who revere life and its many forms.

Hinduism is one of the oldest and greatest religions of all time and teaches that all life is honored. False idols? A gazillion Gods? Cow worship?

No. I do not think that is how people feel about Hindus. I think some people may believe that Hindu's are idol worshipers of a gazillion cow Gods, but no person who desires God believes that.

Hinduism is a way of life for us Indians. It is modified, altered region wise. The kind of Hinduism Marathis practise is different from Gujrathis which is different from North Indians.
Ours is NOT a structured strict religion but a Way to conduct life with Gods & Goddess for each activity & function for which we should be proud.
Cow can be taken as a Symbol for our ( Human's) need to respect other creatures & not to kill without a reason ( Hunger). Hindu scripuctures are full of tales extolling us to respect environment & we have, Vayu, Surya Gods which is critical to everyone's existence.
Albert Enintsien also said that Hinduism is the Best religion on Earth, so be proud of it.

Hindu faith is a very complicated one for other nations and religions to understand because unlike Buddhism, many of the customs and beliefs haven't been explained. We know very little and because of the mystery and Hollywood, we see a rather negative side. I have studied your faith a little and find it complex. When you say false idols, I guess that applies to many faiths...I am Buddhist and I have both a statue of Kwan Yin (Goddess of Mercy) and wear an amulet of jade with Lord Buddha on it. The Catholics have crucifixes....but these are not the gods...they are only focus points for our minds. I know about Shiva, Hanuman, but I really don't understand. But it doesn't matter. You believe how you wish, and if your faith is comfortable and makes you happy, then it is right.

I am an Indian Christian
I have read all the Hindu scriptures
and I have found that it is nothing but an explanation of the Beliefs of the Bible.

But people have misunderstood and given another form to certain concepts.

Well, people judge you by what they observed in your culture. If they see a hindu worshipping a cow, they will assumed that all hindus do that. After all, that's what makes you a hindu. Its what makes your culture unique. You shoul be proud of your culture!

I've read one man's journey to enlightenment, or most of it. I have to admit it made me laugh to think anyone could believe that sort of thing.

Hindu's do have a gallion gods or so it seems but that is your choice in the whole worship thing.
I realise there are different sects to this religion but personally I find it rather unsettling.

I wouldn't say 'random'... there are many different religions, which all have at least one thing in common - they offer their believers life after death, whether it be through reincarnation or living it up some place...

Man is the only animal who knows he is going to die so he makes up fairytales... that's some paraphrasing from somewhere...

Hindus are nature worshipers. they worship nature & thank the nature for the things it gives them. their festivals are also connected with the nature , relationship of the human beings. like holi, sankranti. ( these festivals blend with nature .) rakhi. (for brothers & sisters ) karva chout ( for husbands ) to name a few. they see god in all the animals & plants. hinduism is a way of life. it is so ancient that its founder is not known.it was there even befor jesus & mohammad were born. it was there even during the time of indus valley civilization.

don't worry - at the moment the world is not very concerned about hindus...
do whatever you want as long as you shut up and behave (and most of all: not sending any terrorists in the western countries...)

sad but true...
