A good point was just brought up.
If God is omniscient, how did he not know Adam would be lonely by himself? He only realized this later, then made Eve.
How did he not know that Adam and Eve would sin?
He must have known, so why did he go through with it anyway?
How could an omniscient God forget things?

Sorry, not looking for atheist answers.
You can believe He's not real, not my problem.
Don't push it on others though.

CaptainCool, let me answer you, moron.
Omnipotent is 'all powerful'
Omniscient is all knowing.
I'm not asking about his power, I'm asking about his knowledge.
As to your point, God does not go against his own nature.
He would not create something that large, just to defy himself.
Do you often defy yourself?
I didn't think so.

ArrowHead, I may be a Christian, and I believe in evangelizing.
However, I don't shove it down people's throats.
Coming from myself, it's not hypocritical.
I can see where you're coming from though.
What I don't understand is why you're so quick to be on the offesnsive.

Seriously, alot of you people need to chill. o_o
BillyBob, I know what you mean.
I had a previous question that I called 'lost in translation?'
I've tried translating more than a few things, and I know it never really works out.
A lot of idiom and meaning is lost in the transition to the 'new' langauge.

First don't presuppose that God did not know those things in advance.. he probably did. He dwells in unfathomable eternity and we in two dimensional time everything for us has a beginning and an end... God is infinite and dwells in an infinite space where he IS the beginning and the end of all things... try to wrap your mind around THAT one... Maybe the whole world and the events on it were all planned right up to the end.... Maybe God sits in eternity looking at time as a string stretched out before him, with a beginning and an end, but we are tiny voyagers trudging along the string only seeing the portion it is our lot to be upon that particular day, not knowing the end form the beginning, knowing ONLY the part we are in.

The story about Adam and Eve was a parable told about six thousand years ago. It reflects only some very small portion of creation.
From time immemorial, the One True God says 'be' and 'it is'. His creative works which compose the world of creation and the world of revelation are far beyond man's knowledge and imagination. If man knew all, he were already omniscient!
We should rather start studying seriously any religion, and write down our questions, about ten years later we will see how narrow has been our vision and how low our thinking.
If we refused to enhance our education in science, we would never become a true seeker in the physical world.
If we refused to increase our knowledge in religion, we would never become a true seeker in the spiritual world.

God knows all things, so obviously He knew beforehand that Adam would be lonely. . . .
He also knew Adam and Eve would sin . . . but He created them anyway, and gave them the opportunity to sin anyway. . and the rest is history.
God doesn't forget things except what which He says He forgets.
He says that when we repent, and truly seek to be right with Him through the sacrifice He already paid (to Himself, to satisfy His own righteousness), then He takes our sins and throws them as far as the East is from the West (an infinite distance), and He remembers them no more.
Does that mean He doesn't know what I did last week? (after I asked forgiveness and repented). . .
of course not. . He knows all things, but by "forget" or "remember no more". . He means He has wiped my slate clean (again!). .
God is omniscient and can't ever not know everything. .
He doesn't see time in a linear fashion as we do. . but He sees all of time at the same time. . He is outside of Time . .
He sees what happened when He was creating the universe and the earth at the same time He sees you and me 6000 years later, and at the same time He sees the time of the Tribulation and the end of Time (just before Eternity future begins).

Knowing something before hand does not imply any action. There is a choice, to act or abstain, again knowing the further consequences, out of omniscience ! We are too short lived to really judge the consequence ! There is an eternity waiting ! And who knows, if Adam was not transported or teleported from another Universe, galaxy, star or planet, being given only a 2000 year old record !

you forgot one thing, the devil fell from heaven and came to confuse people on earth. God is all knowing but satan is a cunning devil who deceives man. God being the loving God, he lets people make their own decisions. and guess what? we always make the wrong choices by following satan. Eve was deceived by the devil and she fell for his lies. Those of us who believe in God, we put our entire trust in Him and its not our right to question Him. The Bible says as far as the east is from the west, so are His thoughts far from us. The Bible also says in that we are the pots and he's the porter, why should we ask Him how he has made us? Back to your question, God made everything for good and the devil came but to steal, kill and destroy. however, God gave us all power and authority to tread upon snakes and scorpions and all the power of the enemy and nothing by all means shall hurt us. Luke 10:19. He's a just god and true, He knows all things.

God knew everything and knows everything. You have to realize that something happened after God created the heavens and the earth in Gen. 1:1. When God creates something He makes it perfect. But in verse 2 of the first chapter, we see that the earth that God had created is now formless, void; and Darkness was on the face of the deep. In verse 3, God created light...Well why wasn't there any light???God divides light from darkness??? why is there a need to separate water?? Something bad had to happen for all the darkness and no light, and a need for separation, after all, God creates to perfection...why would he need to divide anything if something didn't go wrong. We learn later of the sin in the garden of Eden. If the world was perfect, why was Eve deceived. Something happened...The fall of Satan!!!God created a perfect world but after the fall of satan, the Flood of Lucifer, all that God made good was now bad. Because Satan was here, God already had a plan to bring his people out of darkness. Had He prevented it all then there would be no need for Jesus Christ and we would have no plan of salvation. Angels were here before man found in Job 38:4-7 and who was Satan???A fallen angel!!! Isaiah 14:12-14 tells us why Lucifer whose name was changed to Satan was cast out of heaven: he wanted to exalt his kingdom and be like God....I could go on and on, but to wrap it up, God created a perfect world, but due to Lucifer's rebellion, he was cast down to earth and the earth became messed up which is why sin took place in the garden of Eden. The first chapter of Genesis is describing how God made the earth fit for humans hence God give humans dominion and tells them how to live. Bad, so to speak, had corrupted the world that God made perfect, and it was only through later events that God would allow a way out of badness for his people. He could have stopped it but didn't. Why he didn't stop Lucifer or even create Him might be a better question, but I try not to question what God does. It took a lot of studying to come up to this conclusion and I hope you see where I am coming from...There is more to it but time will not allow...

I read an apologitic book that explained it in terms of Current Omniscient. In otherwords God would know all current information(he can't predict the future). But this falls apart when you read about the Rapture. It also does not explain how he could forget something.

The bible depicts god as not being omniscient. In addition to the example you provided, in Exodus when the people were worshipping an idol, God was going to kill them all but then Moses talked him out of it..
"the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people" Exodus 32:14
Since accepting God exists is a requirement for answering, here's the best shot...
God exists.
God is omniscient.
God is not depicted as omniscient in the Bible.
Therefore, the Bible must be inaccurate, insofar as God's omniscience is concerned.

Have you tried reading the original text of Genesis from the original Hebrew language? I think you'll find that tranlating the original Hebrew into English loses a lot of meaning and in a way distorts what the original meaning was.

He knew all these things before hand. He knew we would sin and even had the plan of Jesus going on before we sinned I am sure, He writes it like he did not know, but its more for us to read it and know that he was lonely and that is why he made women. He wanted us to know that women and man need eachother. We may never know why He went ahead and did everything even though He knew we were going to sin. Something we will have to ask Him
