Hunny, Sounds like you need a new starter relay. Also check the fuses under the dash. Well, don't know where is exactly located in a Ford Probe. Sometime even when you replace it. it can come defective from the factory. If you still have problems with it, take back do you have warranty in it? search for a free check up. check in honest mechanic in your area. they will tell you.

Good luck!!!

Make sure the battery is up to par and the terminals
are clean. If the relay still doesn't work then it's bad.
Remember this: New doesn't mean it's any good--it just
means it's new. Also- some of the Fords require a
good ground for the relay.

Sounds very much like a stuck solenoid on the starter motor. Tap it with a hammer to dislodge it as a quick fix, then have it replaced. It could just be poor contacts on your battery. Take off the leads and clean the battery posts and the lead connectors with soapy water to dissolve any corrosion and then replace them and tighten securely. Is your battery fully charged?

it takes about 9 volts to make the relay click and it takes 12 volts for the starter to engage, check battery voltage or try to charge it for a few minutes, if it starts replace battery if not check the starter solenoid and wires

The first thing that is wrong is you have got a FORD....trade it for a GM product second is your asking here and not consulting the proper people or letting some one look at it ) but i think its either your starter or the battery cables and posts needs cleaning

R u sure it's the ignition that's the problem? Have you checked the starting motor? The battery? If you can try and test the fuses and circuits.

Most probably the solenoid contacts inside the starter.

If it is easy to get to, you can use one wire of the jumper cables to jump the battery to the big terminal on the starter. If it cranks, the contacts are bad; replace the starter.
